Hello, from a rainy day here in Missouri. The weekend has arrived, and I’m ready for it! How about you?
Miscellany:
1. I’d say it was a pretty good week. I kept myself busy with work (blog and Seint), had social engagements, did some holiday planning, etc. Since I’m hosting Christmas, I’ve been working on what I’d like the tablescape to look like — here is what I did in 2021.
How about you? Ready for Christmas in a little over a week?
I need to wrap, finalize my tablescape, bake, and do some cleaning…
2. Last Sunday, I got myself out of bed and went to church. Honestly, I was super proud of myself since we’ve become too comfortable with streaming church lately.
I went to my parents’ church to hear Jason Upton sing and share the word. He is so talented and brilliant — such a great communicator, too! We attended Evangel University around the same time but didn’t run in the same social circle.
I was excited to run into some peeps I hadn’t seen in a while. That is always a pleasant surprise. Extra hugs never hurt, right? ❤️
3. Nash went for some pictures with Santa earlier this week. He did pretty well as a puppy, but he didn’t want too much to do with the white-bearded man this year. I snapped this on my phone. Notice how he’s leaning away from Santa.
Adorable? Yes. I wish Nash weren’t so skittish all of the time. Stranger Danger seems to be his motto in life. 😂
The other picture in the beige chair was taken the day after his groom. We went to a new groomer this time. I was tickled silly with how well she did, and that plaid bandana is darling! Insert all the heart eyes!
I love him a little longer (as you can see in the Santa pic), but this little guy gets so matted and doesn’t love the brush. Regardless of his cut, he’s such a cutie.
4. Are there any peanut butter lovers out there? If so, I shared a dee-lish Two-Ingredient Peanut Butter Fudge Recipe this week. Be sure to check it out. It would also make a great holiday gift for a hostess.
5. Baking is on the agenda. Here is what I’ll be teaming up with my mom and sister to make:
Sugar Cookies
Cream Wafer Cookies
Thumbprint Cookies
Snowball Cookie Recipe (aka Russian Tea Cakes)
On my own, I’ll also be making these sweet treats:
Bite-Sized Cinnamon Buns
No-Bake Candied Pecans
Homemade Caramel Popcorn
And I’m going to try an Italian Cookie Recipe (Italian Ricotta Cookie). I’ll share if all goes well.
Phew! That seems like a lot of baking and making… Now, what will you be making?
6. I know many people think reality TV is a lot of drama. Lol. That’s probably why I love it so much — it’s incredibly entertaining.
Now, let me say upfront that I don’t usually watch Winter House; however, some of the Below Deck peeps were on it this season, so I decided to give it a go. It has not disappointed. LOL!
Anywho, on this past week’s episode, I was watching Winter House and one of the more mature girls (Jordan) said this about a confrontation that went south between one of the “couples” (Alex and Danielle).
"How someone responds to what you say is not your responsibility, as long as you've spoken your truth."
Of course, tone and presentation can affect how well it’s received, but this guy is calm as a clam. I’m not sure there is a mean bone in his body. He’s super chill. This is why Jordan’s statement stood out to me.
Sometimes, we don’t speak our truth out of fear, mainly because we don’t know how someone might respond. Well, here is your reminder that you are not responsible for how that person responds. Speak your truth!
