Fettuccini Alfredo has always been a favorite dish of mine. However, making a Homemade Alfredo Sauce took my love for this dish to a whole new level. This recipe is not only delicious but incredibly simple too.
I used to think that it was a complicated recipe, so I would just buy a bottle of alfredo sauce. Consequently, I was wrong. So, you’ll be sure to impress your friends and family with only 5 ingredients, a box of fettuccine, and about 15-20 minutes.

I know there are a gazillion Homemade Alfredo Sauce recipes around the web. But this one is near and dear to my family’s heart. It was given to my mom from her best friend in college, Laurie Dippold.
Laurie was a wonderful woman. I had the pleasure of getting to know her when I was younger. Our families visited often. As a result, wherever we were, there was always a lot of love and laughter.
She was an incredible cook, loved the Lord, and had a laugh that was infectious. Unfortunately, around 1999, Laurie passed away from breast cancer. While heaven gained an angel, we lost one here on earth.
My mom has made this Homemade Alfredo Sauce recipe on a number of occasions, saying that it was Laurie’s and how easy it was. Nevertheless, I was always secretly whispering, “Yeah, right.” Haha.
Well, I’m happy to report that my mom was not lying and the joke was on me. It’s so easy. In short, I’d even say it’s fail-proof.

How do you make Alfredo sauce from scratch?
Making this alfredo sauce is easier than you’d think. Let’s take a quick look.
Ingredients:
Heavy Whipping Cream
Butter (salted or unsalted)
Garlic Powder
Parsley, chopped
Romano Cheese, grated
Instructions for Homemade Alfredo Sauce:
Melt butter in a separate pan and add heavy whipping cream, garlic powder, parsley, and cheese.
After that, you’ll continue to heat on low until fettuccine is done. Pour over fettuccine and garnish with additional Romano cheese and/or parsley.

Homemade Alfredo Sauce for Fettuccine Alfredo
Ingredients
- 1 box fettuccine
- 1/2 pint heavy whipping cream
- 1 stick unsalted sweet cream butter
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp parsley, chopped
- 2/3 cup Romano cheese, grated
Instructions
- Prepare fettuccine according to directions on the box.
- In a saucepan, melt butter.
- Add heavy whipping cream, garlic powder, chopped parsley, and shredded Romano cheese.
- Heat on low until fettuccine is finished.
- Pour sauce over fettuccine and enjoy.
