Happy hellos from a beautiful Spring day here in the Ozarks!
Miscellany:
1. First and foremost, I want to say a heartfelt Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms out there—those raising little ones, grown ones, or loving others like their own.
Today, we also hold space for those who find this day bittersweet: those who have lost a mother, long to be one, never knew theirs, or are navigating complicated relationships. However this day meets you, may you feel seen, loved, and wrapped in a little extra grace.
2. Last night we celebrated Mother’s Day over dinner at good ole’ Cracker Barrel. It was my mom’s choice. I love their Chicken and Dumplings, so no complaints from me. Haha. It was insanely busy, but we had a nice time catching up. On Sunday, everyone will be coming out to the house for some dessert and gifts.
3. Since the last Weekender a couple of weeks ago, my brother turned 48 on April 28. This completely blows my mind. While celebrating his birthday, my dad asked the waiter how old my brother looked. The waiter guessed 36. Pretty good, right?
And then my gal pal, Jamie (hi friend), turned 40 and had a celebray-she-own (read that like Doug Hefernon would say it). 😆 Her husband had a Highland Cow there since she is obsessed with them. So fun. However, I was terrified of getting injured by its horn. Lol.
4. Two new posts have been posted since we last chatted: Instant Pot Chicken Teryaki and our Trip to Banff. Be sure to check them out and share with a friend!
5. Weight update! I’m officially down 17.4 pounds. Yesterday was the first time I showed a gain since January. However, I did some weight training on Thursday, and I’m confident the muscle soreness played a part in that.
It’s probably been two or three decades since I used gym equipment to work out. I’m sitting here having a good chuckle.
I can’t wait to hit the 20-pound mark — and, of course, keep going.
6. Our friends’ Golden Retriever (Riley) had ten puppies! They’re Goldadors. OMG, so cute! Have you heard of this breed? I know my pic is a teeny bit blurry, but PUPPIES! 🥰
From what I’ve been told, all of them have been adopted but one. Sweet babies.
7. Yes, and amen to this statement shared on Facebook:
Gen Xers are just 45-60 years old,
who looks 30-40 years old
and feel 100-110 years old.
8. Last chance for the Cream + Sugar Collection from Seint. It’s available through 11:59 PM (MDT) on May 11.
