Picnic Season Must-Haves
While the warmer temps are rolling in, so is the picnic season! Woo-hoo! I prefer picnics in the Spring or early Summer (and Fall, of course). I would rather not feel like I’m going to melt (hee-hee). So the 60s and 70s are PERFECT picnic temperatures. I thought it would be fun to share my picnic season must-haves.

We enjoyed many picnics as a family growing up — from church picnics to packing picnic lunches when heading to Darien Lake (an amusement park in upstate NY). Whether it was egg salad sandwiches or fried chicken paired with homemade potato salad, it was filling and delicious.
Nevertheless, let’s take a quick look at my picks for the picnic season.
Picnic Season Must-Haves

Fuji Instamax. My new favorite toy. I love that you can capture and print — there’s just something fun about that and if you have kids, well, you’ll be sure to impress the kiddos! Remember the fun I had on my Bermuda Cruise using this camera to scrapbook on the cruise boat??

Cute picnic basket. Wicker is my preference, but any picnic basket will do. We usually have to bring along a small cooler for refrigerated drinks and food (especially if it’s hot outside).
three
Thermos. Ahem, I like to end almost every meal with a cup of coffee — regardless of the temps. Iced coffee, anyone? {giggle} This one by Orla Kiely is adorbs, I love all things Orla Kiely #socute.

Paper Plates, Napkins, and Utensils. First and foremost, how cute are these disposable wood paper plates? Yes, please. Would you believe I have a whole container filled with assorted paper plates and napkins? I love having them for last-minute events — and they make clean-up super easy. Score! I also prefer the wooden utensils over plastic these days too. Cute and eco-friendly.

Blanket for sitting on or cuddling up with. Unless there is a picnic table or you don’t mind sitting on the bare ground, a blank is a picnic season must-have.
eight
Music! I always like to have my iPod or phone ready to play some tunes.
nine
Reading material. I’m currently reading, “How Successful People Think” by John Maxwell. I’ve always been so inspired by his books! However, I tend to do a lot of people watching (hee-hee)…. so, sometimes a magazine will do.

While number 10 isn’t pictured above — I’d say the food and/or drink is essential. And if I were packing a lunch for an upcoming picnic, I would plan a simple sandwich — maybe a chicken salad with some chips. And I would make a batch of these French Vanilla Dream Bars for dessert. The secret ingredient? International Delight French Vanilla Creamer.
Of course, we could add so many more fun goodies to this list; however, these are the bare picnic season must-haves.
If I were in a pickle and didn’t have time to make dessert, you can always grab some cookies or snack bars at the grocery store. Give yourself some grace, especially if you’re short on time but wanting to make the day special.
Maybe a picnic needs to be on this weekend’s agenda! I can hear Michael Buble playing on my ipod (along with the birds chirping)…. sounds pretty relaxing, huh?
So, tell me, what would you take on your picnic? Sandwiches? Fried chicken? What are your picnic season must-haves be?

I absolutely love picnics of any kind – I especially love outdoor concerts! My favorite picnic gear includes Pampered Chef party sticks – they hold a wine bottle and glasses – you stick them in the lawn so you don’t have to worry about spills!

I usually don’t take reading material with me on a picnic, my 5 year old won’t let me read. He’s usually excited about our surroundings where we are picnicking. But, I love your list I think it’s great and the thermos is cute!

I had no idea about the wooden plates and utensils. My husband is a fan of the ease of disposable, but I feel guilty. Those just might be our solution!

We NEVER picnic. Hmm, maybe we should It could be fun. We even have a tree around the corner that would be PERFECT to picnic under.
