This might seem a bit redundant, but I just recently discovered the use of Simple Syrup (and how to make it). Several of my favorite popsicle recipes and even my favorite cocktail — the Amaretto Sour, call for simple syrup, sooo I thought I would share how to make simple syrup.
Simple Syrup is an easy syrup that is merely sugar being dissolved in equal parts of water over heat. It’s a perfect addition to coffee and tea and , well, it’s great to have on hand for cocktails and other recipes!
Simple Syrup Recipe
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup organice cane sugar*
- 2/3 cup water
Instructions
- Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring until the mixture is transparent and the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Remove pan from burner and let cool.
- Store in sealed container in refrigerator for 4-6 weeks.
Notes
I’ve made a few batches of simple syrup now and store it in a mason jar. I enjoy the lower cost version of making it myself too. Enjoy!
p.s. Try your hand at this recipe using Simple Syrup.
