Making the Peanut Butter Fudge

The magic of this recipe lies in its simplicity. Here are the two essential ingredients you’ll need:

  • White Frosting
  • Reeses’s Peanut Butter Chips

Let’s jump right into the steps to create this delectable treat without further delay.

Step 1: Prepare the Pan.

To begin with, let’s line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper and set aside. Please note that non-stick spray will not work.

Step 2: Melt Peanut Butter Chips

Next, we’ll pour the peanut butter chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Be sure that the bowl is microwave-safe. Microwave on high for two minutes, stirring the mixture thoroughly after each 30-second interval until it’s perfectly smooth and the peanut butter chips melt entirely.

Also, don’t overcook your peanut butter chips; the fudge will turn lumpy.

If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can combine different types of chips – dark chocolate, white chocolate, and/or butterscotch – to create a multi-layered fudge sensation.

Step 3: Prepare the Frosting.

Take the lid and foil seal off the container of frosting and microwave on high for one minute.

Step 4: Mixing

Pour the frosting into the bowl with the melted peanut butter chips. Stir well to combine the ingredients.

Step 5: Setting the Mixture.

Once you’ve achieved a smooth consistency, it’s time to pour the mixture into an 8×8-inch square baking dish (lined with parchment paper). Spread evenly with a spatula, tapping the pan on the counter or table to flatten.

Step 6: Chilling the Fudge.

Now, onto the most challenging part: the waiting game. Hee-hee. Place in the fridge for four hours or until set.

Step 7: Cutting and Serving.

Remove it from the refrigerator. To ensure easy removal, use the parchment paper overhangs to lift the fudge out of the dish and place it on a cutting board.

With a sharp knife, slice the fudge into one-inch pieces.

Altogether, this will yield approximately sixteen pieces. Enjoy!

Variations and Tips:

  • Custom Toppings: You can get creative with your toppings by drizzling melted chocolate over the fudge or sprinkling additional Reese’s peanut butter chips for extra flavor.
  • Nutty Twist: Add chopped nuts such as almonds or cashews to the fudge mixture for a diverse, nutty experience.
  • Size: Double the recipe or use a smaller pan for a thicker fudge.
  • Storage: Keep your fudge fresh by storing it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or freeze it for longer preservation up to three months.

Alternative Ingredients:

  • Frosting: If you can find peanut butter frosting, you’re welcome to use that in place of the white frosting for an even bigger peanut butter taste. Another option is to swap out the flavor of the chips to change up the recipe altogether.
  • Creamy Peanut Butter: If you don’t want to use the peanut butter chips, you can use 16 ounces of creamy peanut butter in its place. Natural peanut butter didn’t work well, but it did work great with a sugar-added peanut butter option. Follow the same steps when making this substitution.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: You can also use a 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk instead of the frosting, but add two more ounces of peanut butter chips.

To sum it all up, this easy peanut butter fudge is a delightful homemade treat that requires minimal effort but delivers maximum satisfaction.

Guess what? It makes a great gift too!
