Happy, happy hellos from my neck of the woods to yours. I missed you last week, so let’s catch up. Ready or not, here we go…
Above is some wallpaper I snapped a picture of from the hotel we stayed at in Columbus. It was a boutique, artsy hotel.
1. Where did the week go? Holy cow. I think the exhaustion from last weekend has been lingering throughout the week. I can honestly say this week has felt like a blur. How about you?
The best part of this week? The sunshine and warmer temps, baby! Yes, and amen. Taking Nash out for walks and seeing the sunshine through the windows is what kicking away the winter blues looks like.
I’m ready for Spring (definitely not summer, though).
2. I spent a few days in Columbus, Ohio, with some of my Seint sisters the first week of February. I felt in my heart that I needed to go and meet some of the girls (and my upline) face to face. However, I also knew that this was going to be a stretch, considering all the menopausal emotions and feelings that I’ve been experiencing.
Anxiety started to creep up on me the day that we left for Columbus. Then, the morning before any festivities began, I got sucker punched with an anxiety attack.
See, as a blogger, I used to go to conferences all the time. 90% of the time, I didn’t have a tribe, gal pals, or a clique. SNAP was one of them held in Utah. That one had more meals with speakers, alleviating the stress of eating alone.
However, I attended another conference hosted in Georgia, and all our dinners were on our own. I started asking my husband to come and work remotely because I was never invited to have dinner with other groupies. It SUCKED. I would go back to the room and cry, literally—my poor husband.
Well, all those experiences flooded my mind on Friday morning in Columbus. What if this was going to be a replay of those conferences? Yes, Steve was with me, but I wanted to feel a connection.
Everyone was friendly and pleasant. We were together as a team the entire time—all 26ish of us. Cortney shared a story that confirmed I had found my tribe among those ladies, too. All in all, the Lord knew I needed that confirmation.
Pictured below are Cortney Spencer (my direct upline) and myself.
So, if there’s one thing I’ve learned about myself over the years (and was confirmed last weekend), I’m always hyper-aware of INCLUSIVITY. Everyone should feel included. If you’ve ever experienced loneliness or felt left out, why on God’s green earth would you want someone else to experience that?
Will everyone be besties? Of course not, but ensuring that everyone feels seen, welcomed, and a part of the team is essential to ME! I also learned that not everyone worries about that… but we’ll save that story for another time.
3. Remember me mentioning the crafty collaboration I’ll be doing once a month throughout the year? Well, guess what? My first project is officially done. I’ll post about it on Tuesday, February 13th.
I’ll give you a hint—whimsical Wooden Spring Flowers. I’m not going to lie. I’m kind of obsessed with the wooden flowers.
Did I spend way too much time in the craft stores? YEP. Did I buy more than the supplies I needed? YEP.
However, it also reminded me why I usually avoid the craft stores. Especially during the seasonal finds. I seriously ooh and awe at all the things. It’s funny and ridiculous all at the same time. 😂
4. Do you make time for your friends? For coffee, happy hour, lunch, or dinner? If not, start doing that. Meet up with the friends that speak life into your life. Share your highs and lows. Talk about your goals, the books you’re reading, and new life lessons.
Why am I saying this? Since moving back to Springfield, I’m forever grateful for the friends I’ve been able to reconnect with. I leave feeling refreshed, heard, seen, and loved.
This week, I met up with a couple of gal pals — one for coffee and one for lunch. How about you?
5. Go Chiefs! This weekend is the BIG Super Bowl. Are you hosting any festivities? My family will be hanging out at our house. We’ll have wings, pizza, chips, and, wait for it, CAKE!
Who are you cheering for?
I’m so excited for the game. I’m hoping the Chiefs can bring home another win. And, of course, the real nail-biter is whether or not Taylor Swift will be there. Haha. Just kidding. However, I’m secretly (only telling you 🤫) hoping she makes an appearance.
6. I shared the cutest berry gift idea this week on the blog. I think it’s great for any time, but if you’re in a pickle for Valentine’s Day — be sure to check it out. Mmmkay?
7. Fashion Trends. Do you follow them? I’m neither here nor there, but these 10 Spring-Summer Trends for 2024 were an interesting scroll. Pssst: We could probably do without the short shorts and transparent skirts. 🤣
8. It’s official. I’m joining WW (Weight Watchers) again. I’ve got to get some of this weight off and make healthier choices. Stay tuned…
