Ever have those days where you’re extremely irritable, critical, frustrated, disappointed and/or emotional? The good Lord knows I do. I’m so incredibly far from perfect. Actually, I’m perfectly imperfect {hee-hee}. However, I strive each and every day to be kind, happy, and encouraging. Our human instinct usually gets the better of us and we eventually become unglued and prove our imperfection time and time again.

Last year I was introduced to Lysa Terkeurst, author of Unglued. I {love} and appreciate how Lysa keeps things real, showing her readers that she stuffs, explodes or reacts just like the rest of us. Sometimes it’s nice to know that we’re not alone in our imperfect journey. Wouldn’t you agree?
I’m currently reading her companion devotional, Unglued: 60 Days of Imperfect Progress, where she encourages us to have more peace and calm in our relationships. WOW! It’s 60 days of inspiration, truth, and scripture to challenge us.
I need to be challenged to keep things in perspective. So many days I let things bother me and then I become irritable, short and say unkind things. My poor (yet incredibly patient) husband. He would be the star witness if my imperfection ever went on trial {giggle}. It’s sad, but true.
Whether it’s bickering children, whimpering dogs, a dirty house, a stressful job, backstabbing friends, etc – we’re all sure to find ourselves losing our cool on any given day. What’s important is that we are striving to break the cycle of allowing our frustrations/emotions to build up and then quite possibly exploding.
“The more I rejoice, the more I keep things in perspective. The more I keep things in perspective, the gentler I become.” –Lysa Terkeurst
So, I guess this post serves a two-fold purpose. First and foremost, I wanted to confess my imperfection and say that if you’re on this imperfect journey with me – well, you’re not alone! Thank goodness, right? I’m pretty hard on myself most days. I feel guilty when I say something (or even think something) mean or when I feel jealous when I should be super excited for my friend and her good news. See? Super imperfect. I want to be the kind of woman that spreads joy, lends a listening ear and speaks kind words. It’s just not as easy as it sounds, so I have to pray and lean on Him. Can you relate?
Secondly, I wanted to encourage you to pick up a copy of the Unglued Devotional and take the 60 day challenge. Each devotion includes scripture, a thought for the day, and a closing prayer. You’ll feel refreshed, encouraged and blessed that you took some time out of your day to spend with Jesus.
Thanks for letting me keep it real.
Love you, friends! xo

Hello Kelly, I have enjoyed following your blog and “blog following” is very new to me. It’s great though to find someone who expresses the same passions, insecurities and desire for a happy life with honesty and a big heart as I try to do. Thank you, and I look forward to sharing your journey.
