I may have mentioned this before, but one of my wedding showers was a “kitchen theme.” Consequently, all of the gifts were from Pampered Chef. A very special extra gift my mom and my sister coordinated was having friends and family submit handwritten recipes for a recipe box.
When I mentioned earlier that this pie recipe has been calling my name for years, I wasn’t exaggerating. I’m still trying some of the recipes in my stainless steel recipe box. Yes, even seven years later.
This Creamsicle Pie recipe was submitted by a family friend of my hubby, Jean Ellis. It was delicious. In other words, I wish we had tried it sooner because it was so good. And in addition, it’s a perfectly refreshing frozen treat as the warmer weather stop by for a visit.

Yum!! This flavor sounds delicious!! I have a recipe from Weight Watchers (from over 10 years ago) that is very similar to this using lime jello and key lime yogurt. It is amazing. I had tried a couple of other flavors with limited success. This is a flavor that just brings back memories of childhood! I’m making this soon. Thanks!!

Step 2 says mix yogurt and Cool Whip…how much Cool Whip is used in this step and how much goes on top at the end?
Kelly Rowe says
Hi Debbie. Each step requires 8 oz., defining the two 8 oz divided 🙂 I hope that helps. Enjoy!
Kathy says
You do actually mean the 3 oz size of Orange Jello because the .30 oz is a little confusing
Kelly Rowe says
Hi Kathy 🙂 No, I do mean .30 oz — that’s what my jello box size is, it’s not 3 oz. Enjoy!
Kathy says
So sorry about the confusion. I was looking at regular Jello and not sugar free. I found the right size and I’m making it tonight.
Can it be made with regular using the same amount of the gelatin powder?
Kelly says
No worries! I do think regular jello with the same amount of gelatin would work just as well! I’d love to hear what you think of the pie 🙂
Joyce says
I was wondering does the pie have to be frozen, or can you just put it in the refrigerator? I just don’t have room in my freezer.
Kelly Rowe says
Hi Joyce. I think it does, but you can try refrigerating it to see if it works. I haven’t tried it, so I can’t say for sure. Wish I could be of more help. Let me know 🙂

When I worked at a retirement home I made up a pie much like this one. The residents were complaining about the food. I made up the whipped cream. (It came in a powder). I put the orange jello and cold milk. Vanilla. Put it in a graham cracker crust and put in the fridge.
The residents loved it. I made it with strawberry also.

Could you please confirm that the Jell-O is dissolved in only 1/4 cup of hot water? Is it supposed to make a very thick layer of gelatinous substance? After I dissolved, I went to add the yogurt and cool whip to the Jell-O and it just made a thick layer of Jell-O that stuck to the bottom of my bowl. I ended up picking the Jell-O out because it was coming off in skin-like chunks.
