Hey there, friends! I’m so super duper excited that you’re here. Party day is a favorite day around these parts. I mean, who wouldn’t be excited to have hundreds of friends swing by to share their recipes, crafts, home projects and more?!?!
This past week has been a ROUGH one. On Sunday between 3 and 4 p.m., our Parker vomited. We didn’t think much of it, all dogs get upset tummies on occasion. However, the vomiting didn’t stop. Parker continued to throw up 2-3 times per hour. Then he began wheezing very loudly. We were going to see how he was feeling in the morning, but decided at 2:30 a.m. to take him to an emergency clinic.
Parker has been at the hospital since early Monday morning. The staff hasn’t seen significant improvements as he is still not eating and has had a few bouts of vomiting and diarrhea. On Tuesday night we went down to visit with him and saw no improvements ourselves. I bawled like a baby all the way home.
Parker is nine years old and rules the roost in our home. It’s sooooo quiet. Buster is laid back — never makes much of a peep, unless Parker does (hee-hee). So, I’m playing our local christian radio station to drown out the silence within these four walls and trying to stay VERY busy.
I see his favorite toy (the eyeless froggy) and my heart sinks. I lay in bed wishing I could hear him scratching his bed in the crate that sits next to my side of the bed. Sigh.
I don’t show a lot of REAL LIFE photos around my home, but here you can see that I have to keep our white couches covered, as Parker often tinkles with excitement. Next to the couch sits a wood stump table, that now hides a stain from Parkers vomiting on Sunday night. After three washes, I just couldn’t get it to disappear. I’m thankful for slipcovers, but boy is this white killing me! Any tips/tricks to getting stains out?
This corner of the couch is where Parker usually lays so he can keep any eye on the lay of the land (aka the house) and I’m certain his frog is lonely.
I know that this isn’t the happiest way to kick off a party, but I would truly appreciate your extra thoughts and prayers. The testing continues and we’re hopeful that he is on the mend. They’re currently treating him for gastritis and he’s on an antibiotic for the wheezing.
I believe Parker was sent to be our angel when infertility came knocking on our door. He is our fur baby, so seeing him suffer is incredibly difficult.
Thanks for letting me share, friends! Now, as I wipe my eyes dry, let’s get this par-tay started!!! Show me what you got… (wink)

I am so sorry Kelly. I went through something similar earlier this year with my Arlo. His pancreas gave out and he became diabetic, then a week later went blind. It broke my heart to see him so sick, but he recovered and even plays fetch again, lol. We will be thinking about you and Parker and hoping for a full recovery!! 🙂

Many prayers for Parker are coming your way, Kelly! Our furry friends are part of our family and you don’t have to apologize for pouring your hearth out. Hope they will soon find what caused him to get ill and treat it properly. Thanks for still throwing the party, I can only imagine how hard it must be. Hugs for you!
