circa 2019: Decor with Thrift Store Finds

It was a beautiful week here in the Ozarks. It wasn’t too warm or too cold. Spring perfection. I hope you can say the same!

Let’s do a little catching up, shall we?

Miscellany:

1. The week was pretty typical — work, gym, walking dogs. The extras included a hair appointment and a therapy (counseling) session. Tonight, Steve and I are heading to a comedy club to see Joe Machi for a date night. Laughter is always good medicine. Haha.

2. Earlier this week, I shared an inspirational post — When You’re in a Fun (Real-Life Version). If you missed it, be sure to check it out and share it with a friend who might need a little encouragement.

3. Patterns and textures have been capturing my eye lately. I’ve snapped pictures of some walls and floors in places I’ve visited over the past couple of months.

Wallpaper, tile floors, and brick walls from restaurants, stores, a funeral home, and more.

A collage of photos showing brick walls, corrugated metal, floral wallpaper, wood flooring, and patterned tile arranged in film-style frames.

4. A month or two ago, in the AARP magazine, I read an article about motivation and exercise. I loved reading about the best exercises that don’t feel like exercises. Here’s what they listed:

  • standing
  • walking
  • weighted walking
  • standing on one leg
  • taking the stairs

5. On Sunday, our pastor closed the service with prayer and a powerful reminder from the Gospel of John 16:33:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Those words have been quietly lingering with me all week. There’s something so comforting about that promise—a steady reminder that peace is still possible, even in the midst of life’s challenges.

6. Lately, I’ve been saying that I’m in my dress era. I don’t wear shorts often anymore, and I feel like a lot of summer dresses can be cooler. And these midi t-shirt dresses do NOT disappoint. Since I’m on the shorter side (5’3″), they’re long t-shirt dresses on me. I love it!

I bought the Heather Gray Stripe last summer, and I’m getting the Warm Taupe Stripe this summer. The black one is on my radar, too! I throw on a denim button-down shirt over them and flip-flops — summer perfection!
