Well, as many of you know — Steve and I have been on quite a journey the past few months. Tonight we are attending an adoption information session with an organization called Bethany Christian Services. We would ask that you pray with us (again) for wisdom as we consider this option in starting a family.
I was blessed last week to speak with a local couple who had just went through the adoption process with Bethany. Their timeline moved soooo quickly (which is not the norm), but they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Their application process took about 5-6 months, but their placement happened within two weeks of their profile going live. WOW, how exciting!! Gayla was super helpful in giving me a lot of perspective since she had been through the process. Thanks again, Gayla. It’s funny how those happenstances fall into place — a local photographer took their pics for their application and then of the baby. Since my sister knew the photographer, I was quick to inquire as to what agency they used. One inquiry led to another and before I knew it — I had Gayla’s phone number. For a process such as this, recommendations are super important to me. This isn’t something you flip through the yellow pages and pick an agency, ya know?
At this point we don’t know a ton about the process other than the application process can take months due to paperwork, background checks, books that need to be read and reports written, etc. — and, of course, there is yet another large financial investment to be made. Steve and I continue to talk through our hopes and dreams, but there are so many factors that weigh in on a decision of this magnitude. As we continue to pray, we covet your prayers as well. Have a blessed day. More details to come…
