I love Valentine’s Day…  all kinds of love to be shared.  Today I thought I would share a very simple valentine vignette in my shabby chic craft room.  I don’t really decorate the house for Valentine’s and/or Easter.  They just come and go so fast.  Along with the valentine vignette, I thought I would share a super quick tutorial for the paper doily wreath featured in my vignette.

I used a plain white upcycled frame, old books, vintage wooden letters I bought on Etsy and a rustic looking jar filled with candy hearts.  I love the neutrals and simplicity of this vignette.  However, I love the focal piece the most — the doily wreath.

Supplies:
6″ floral craft ring
4″ paper doilies in two different styles
Glue gun

paper doily wreathI used approximately 20-30 paper doilies, but I didn’t keep close count.  And remember this is a smaller wreath, only measuring 6″.  If you should do a larger one, you’ll need to consider using a larger size doily and quite a few more.

gluing paper doiliesPinch the doily in the center, add glue and place.  The doilies allow for a little manipulation; however, be sure you don’t rip any in the process.   Continue to do this until your wreath form is covered.

You might want to paint your wreath form white; however, as I mentioned earlier, I kinda love the neutral colors and I thought if the kraft color showed through in a spot or two I was okay with it.  I think it adds a little imperfect character {smile}.  It’s super light weight, so you could simply glue some twine to the back for hanging as well.  I leaned mine against the frame, so nothing was attached for hanging purposes.

I’m so sorry for myself that I missed this 14 Days fest. Will have to go back and read all of them! I am SO going to the store on Monday to get some doilies!

That is a very cute wreath. I have a funny question for you. What kind of jar is that with the convo hearts in it? Thanks.

Hi Sheila! Thanks so much for stopping by. That jar used to house a soy candle. I loved the jar so much I cleaned it up and saved it… she’s a fave of mine. Hugs.
