Last year, it was decided that I could take one of our empty bedrooms and make it into craft room! Yay! Soooo, I decided to jump on that and get the party started. I decided to to go with a shabby chic room — airy and light, yet fun!  I’m such a dork and forgot to get a picture of the ‘white’ room before I started the makeover, but this pic gives you an idea.

Here we have a Blank. White. Canvas.

white canvas_resizedI financed most of this room with Craigslist sales… I went on a selling frenzy and slowly but surely tackled the room. Paint. Desk. Frames. Etc. The chair and the dresser were both refurbishes. I posted about the chair here. The dresser was a find through Craigslist.  It was perfect!  An Ethan Allen, solid wood dresser for $20.00.  I was soooo excited!  But, let me tell you — a dresser makeover, if done correctly, is work. Lots of sanding, dust and multiple coats of paint.  However, the end result was worth every single minute of work I put into it.

So, what do you think? I’d {love} to know…

I realize you wrote this post at the beginning of the year, but as I am fairly new to your blog I just came across it. I am so envious of this room. It is weird, we have almost exactly the same taste in things, I am shabby chic girl and I LOVE how you did this room. It is girly, but grown up, shabby chic, but not too shabby! I really like how you accessorized but also left it clean and neat looking. That is a challenge in a craft room.

I used to have a scrapbooking room, but due to health issues was forced to move and now do not have an extra room to devote to crafting. I miss it so much, especially as I have two cats and have to constantly clean up whatever I am working on because they get into it. Also, by the time I haul everything out to start working, I am tired and don't get much done. When you have a devoted room, you can start a project and walk away.

I hope you are enjoying your space, it is so pretty and would certainly inspire me to create!

DROOL!!!!! I just found your blog via http://www.hometalk.com. I started out with this very same decorating idea, blue walls and white furniture. Well I got one bookcase (free) and painted it white, walls were painted blue. It was going to be my Hawaiian themed Oasis for scrapbooking with lots of pics from my three trips to Hawaii. Well since we are limited space and hubby needs to use the computer we share, it mainly has his work spread out most of the time on the two folding tables we have. Its not what I had envisioned, but it works and I am thankful to have the room we have. But this is definitely an inspiration for my room……one of these days! Its gorgeous!!! Thank you!!

Thanks so much! The color of the wall paint is Niagra Falls, we used Olympic paint for this project 🙂 Hope that helps! Have a fabulous day.

I love it! Your room is soooo beautiful! I’m transforming the rec room (which we never use) into my craft, sewing, painting room. I can’t wait to get it finished, but there is a lot of work to do. Your post inspires me to get moving quickly!

I love the mirror surrounded by the empty frames. I would love to do something similar in my daughter’s room. Do you know where I can find a mirror just like that one?

Hi Melissa! I bought that one at an antique store and spray painted it, so I’m afraid I can’t be of much help there. Sorry! Keep an eye out for them at flea markets and/or thrift stores too 🙂 Hugs.
