Pile of ripe red strawberries freshly harvested and ready to enjoy.

Happy hellos from my little town in the Ozarks! It’s been a couple of weeks, so we have some catching up to do… let’s do it!

Miscellany:

1. Well, we took our road trip to South Dakota — spending most of our time in Rapid City doing a lot of exploring. Steve and I had a great time adventuring, relaxing, and road-tripping. It was just what the doctor ordered, but it’s always nice to get back home! There’s no place like home. Am I right?

Guess what I like to buy for souvenirs? Postcards and stickers. An occasional shirt or sweatshirt is fun, too, but I like keeping a bowl on our coffee table with the postcards as a conversational piece. I haven’t quite figured out what to do with the stickers yet; however, they’re inexpensive and fun.

Anywho, stay tuned — I’ll be sharing more about our time there.

2. It’s official! I’m 52. Where did the time go? I was telling my husband the other day that I remember my 16th birthday like it was yesterday. Lunch with my parents, getting my driver’s license, and a lovely Fossil watch.

Oh, how the years go by… I’m grateful for every one of them!

3. A couple of weeks ago, I got a hankering to do some strawberry picking. Steve and I got up bright and early on a Saturday morning and headed to a local strawberry patch. We picked about 7 lbs.

I made strawberry shortcake, put some in jars for a longer shelf life, and froze some.

4. Steve got me a Kindle for my birthday. Woo-hoo. I’ve read two books since.

  • Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover
  • The Club by Ellery Lloyd

5. MRI. Before we went away, I had my MRI for my lower back. I was happy to hear there is nothing serious going on. I made a couple of calls and will be looking to do some Physical Therapy and possibly see a pain management doctor.

6. Upon our return from South Dakota, we had a date night (late birthday dinner) at the Ozark Mill. I mentioned our previous visit back in February.

I love this place, and if you’re ever in the area, be sure to visit. Again, such great food and atmosphere.

7. A few things I’ve watched and/or am currently watching over the past several weeks:

  • Apex (Netflix): A survival thriller—I was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie. GULP.
  • MIA (Peacock): Great action thriller series about a young woman from the Florida Keys who embarks on a dangerous mission of revenge. Season one was goooood.
  • Dutton Ranch (Paramount+): Awesome-sauce. Need I say more? I love Beth and Rip. New episodes release on Fridays.

8. Does anyone else turn dresses into pajamas? I’ve been doing it for years. I haven’t been wearing my shorter dresses because of my pasty white legs, so I thought I would try sleeping in the cotton T-shirt dresses (from Old Navy) before getting rid of them.

I’m sure it sounds crazy, but it works. CrAzy? Maybe. Haha.

Around the Web:

These Hot Italian Sub Sliders.

This Bulldog Brittle — great for summer cookouts.

I can relate to this. You?

This Father’s Day Word Search.

This Beaded Plant Tutorial.

These Citrus Stamped Tea Towels.

This Eye Serum (chef’s kiss).

One Last Hoorah:

Between strawberry picking, date nights, walks with the dogs, and simply enjoying the longer days, I’ve noticed something lately… the best moments are often the ones that pull us away from our phones. The moments when we’re laughing, exploring, visiting with friends, or soaking up a sunset. May this be your gentle reminder to do more of whatever makes you lose track of time.
