Puddle jumping hellos from my home to yours! We’re on our third day of rain, so umbrellas are up aaaand spirits are high. How about you?
Miscellany:
1. Steve and I have been considering a new house rule: no shoes inside, unless they’re dedicated house shoes or slippers. Long story short, I don’t want to think about what we bring into our homes on our shoes.
So, while the dogs were at daycare this week, I thoroughly cleaned our hardwoods. I moved everything (chairs, plant stands, dog beds) I could into the living room, and then I dry swiffered, vacuumed, wet swiffered, and then mopped.
Holy cannoli, that was a lot of work — but worth it. Our new house rule is official! And the crowds go wild.
2. On Thursday, I made my first appearance at the gym due to all the rain. I had to give myself a pep talk walking in there and acting like I knew what I was doing. Most of the time, I feel pretty confident and embrace the “Let them” theory, but the gym is another beast. 100% insecure.
I was there for about an hour and felt pretty darn proud of myself. I walked a couple of miles and about 15 minutes on a recumbent bike.
While the weight machines constantly try to grab my attention, I’m clueless, and I don’t want to bulk up on muscle. I need to do a little research on the best machines for arms and my “middle.”
3. Where are my Spring Cleaners at? Raise your hand or comment below. You’re my heroes. I stink at it. I’m so bad at it that I haven’t washed my curtains since we moved here. Ahem, 8 years ago.
I happened to think this was the week to wash the curtains in our Dining Room and Living Room. The only problem was they’re linen and the tag said, “DRY CLEAN ONLY.”
Welp, that wasn’t happening.
So, I decided to wash them on cold and dry on low. Bad idea, Kelly.
I think they shrunk a good 3-4 inches. I like my curtains to touch the floor, maybe even a little longer. While hanging them back up — they looked like a tall man wearing pants that were way too short for him.
My saving grace was that my sister had given me her white linen curtains when she moved a couple of years ago. Thank God I held onto them. However, I think new curtains may be in my near future. I’m ready for some pops of color.
We live and learn — and I need to get better at Spring Cleaning. Shhhh. Be nice!
4. Did you see the delicious Slow Cooker Hot Honey Chicken Wings I shared earlier this week? We like chicken wings, so new options are a win-win. Do you like chicken wings?
5. Last night we hosted a family Taco Night. My mom and I made Cornbread Crepes (soft tacos) using our crepe makers and added some hard shells to the mix. Everybody contributed to the taco bar. I lined one counter with the fixings — meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, olives, avocado, and sour cream. Steve added jalapenos, which are not my jam.
Nevertheless, it was all soooo good! I made Sopapilla Cheesecake for dessert. Easy and delish.
6. Do you use pimple patches? I usually use an acne spot treatment for breakouts, and it works really well. I had a breakout this week that was a little stinker, and resorted to using a pimple patch. My sister has been raving about them and gave me a box in my stocking last Christmas.
And wouldn’t you know — I wore that patch for about 6 hours, all the gook surfaced and it seems to be healing up. Bing, Bang, Boom!
7. Do you happen to be watching The Amazing Race? Steve has always loved the show, so I’ve grown to enjoy watching it with him. Could I ever be a contestant? Hello to the no. I’m pretty sure that I would cry a lot. 😂😂
A new season started a few weeks ago, and I was cheering for the couple from Utah. This past week, they voted for two teams to do a double U-turn. UGH. Of course, the top two teams ended up being the bottom two, and Team Utah went home. I was so annoyed. LOL. It’s the nature of the beast (and how the game goes). Boo.
