Happy hellos on a sunny Saturday here in Rogersville, MO!
Miscellany:
1. I’m officially 50! Last weekend, I officially crossed the half-century line. Phew! May 17th was my actual birthday, but I posted this on Facebook on the evening of May 16th.
Today is the last day I’ll be in my 40s. Steve and I celebrated with a date night.
I cannot believe that tomorrow I’ll be 50 years old. How the “hell-o” is that possible?!? I feel like I had my first sip of alcohol yesterday, yet it was 29 years ago. For those of you doing the math, yes, I had my first drink at the age of 21. Lol. I’m a Pastor’s Kid and never went through the wild teen years.
Anywho, I usually celebrate my birthday all month, yet this one has felt a little different—I’m blaming menopause. I haven’t been counting down the days, and I’ve cried more than I’d like to admit—but tomorrow, May 17th, 2024, is inevitable. While it’s only a silly number, it is a relatively big one.
However, you have a much greater appreciation for life and each passing day by this age. So, tonight, I’m grateful for the 49 incredible years I’ve lived — being raised in a Godly home, the friends I’ve made, the schools I attended, the lessons I’ve learned, the places I’ve lived, my fur babies (past and present), the jobs I’ve had, God’s provision, the journey of entrepreneurship (my blog), sixteen years of marriage to an amazing man and the list goes on and on. I would be grateful for 50 more if God wills it. (Come quickly, Lord Jesus).
Cheers to the past 49 years! I’m coming for you FIFTY — and you better not disappoint.

So, on May 17th, Kristine (my twin sister) and I had breakfast with our parents. We had a lovely time laughing and reminiscing.
On May 18th, we celebrated with some of our (local) closest friends. We used a small room at my parents’ church with a bit of a coffee shop vibe. It was a lovely time, but I’m glad it’s over.
Party planning is a lot of work. And Balloon Garlands are NO JOKE, friends. Pay the professionals. 😂😂 I’ll try to share more about the decor and our vision at some point. Everything did come together and looked lovely.
2. So, with turning 50, I scheduled the first of two shingle shots this past week. Thankfully, I chose to do it in my left (non-dominant) arm. I had it done on Wednesday morning, but my arm is still sore. I took two Tylenol for a couple of days, and I didn’t seem to have any other side effects. Praise the Lord! 🙌🏻
I need to get the second shot within 2 to 6 months, and it’s safe to say that I’m not looking forward to it. 😂😂 The night of the shot, I lay in bed and told Steve, “I’m not doing the second shot.” Steve’s reply, “You have to.” Then, we had a good chuckle.
3. In case you missed it the week before last, I shared some Pressed Flower Candles I made, which I’m currently obsessed with. I hope you try your hand at it — it’s much easier than you think.
4. This has been a very slow month for my Seint business.
Since August 2023 (when I signed up), I’ve been in the Top 10 for sales on my team, with over 500 artists. Well, even after working my tail off most of the month, this will likely be the month I won’t meet that goal. Bye Bye, Top 10.
I think everything that could’ve gone wrong did. We win some, and we lose some, right? I’m working on my mindset and focusing on showing up and serving. Regardless of the sales, there is a reward in that.
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal:
It is the courage to continue that counts.”
– Winston Churchill
Isn’t that good? This quote summarizes the essence of resilience and perseverance. Success, while gratifying, is not a permanent state; it requires continuous effort and growth.
Similarly, failure is not the end of the journey but a stepping stone to improvement. The true measure of character lies in the courage to persist despite setbacks and to keep striving for better outcomes. This mindset transforms challenges into opportunities, propelling us forward with determination and hope.
Can you relate to this?
5. Nash has been limping for the last few days, so we headed to the vet yesterday. Steve and I think he jumped off something and landed funny. We can’t think of anything else that could’ve happened, but anything is possible.
The vet seems to think that Nash might have a sore toe* and gave us some anti-inflammatory medicine — and said we need to keep him low-key for a couple of weeks. GULP. Poor guy will be very disappointed he can’t go to doggy day care. We’re hoping a week will do the trick. Please pray (for all of us). Just kidding. 😂
*Confession. I’ve always referred to dogs’ feet, paws, nails, and pads — but I’ve never used the word toes. I never really thought of dogs having toes, but apparently, they do.

Hi Kelly! Happy 50th Birthday! I can understand how you feel and what you are going through now with turning the big 5-0. I felt that way leading up to my 50th birthday a few years ago, but then something happened that I didn’t count on. My healthy, active and vibrant mother got sick with what she thought was the flu over that Christmas. Unfortunately, she died suddenly from Sepsis before the new year came. It was devastating, and completely not expected, and honestly, made me think differently about every day as a gift from God. When my 50th birthday rolled around two months later, it was the easiest birthday I’ve ever had, since I knew how precious each day was/is. I hope this helps you, dear Kelly. God bless!
