I’m on a role with printables these days! This Candy Cane Poem is an oldie but a goodie.
While I love the hustle and bustle of the holidays — decorating, shopping, wrapping, baking and more! I never want to forget the true reason for the season — the birth of Jesus. I’ve always loved this Candy Cane Poem as it serves as a great reminder each year of what we are truly celebrating.
My sister was telling me that her Pastor recently shared a fantastic analogy of Christmas — it is Jesus Birthday! So, can you imagine there being a celebration every single year for your birthday but there isn’t anything there for you, the guest of honor? WOW! We do tend to fill the base of the tree with gifts and toast to friends and family. However, do we take time to celebrate the true reason for the season? I guess it’s something to keep in mind this year.
I remember my mom sharing this with me years ago, and I thought it was the neatest poem with a powerful visual and symbolic meaning!
Look at a Candy Cane
What do you see?
Stripes that are red
Like the blood shed for me
White for my Savior
Who’s sinless and pure!
“J” is for Jesus My Lord, that’s for sure!
Turn it around
And a staff you will see
Jesus my shepherd
is coming for Me!
I thought I would share one I designed with all of you. Simply cut them out and attach a candy cane using mini glue dots! They held up like a charm {wink}. These would make great little gifts for co-workers, your child’s classmates in school or Sunday School — or even a Christmas Day favor! Enjoy.
