coral flowers with spring rain resting on them

It’s been a very quiet couple of weeks on the home front—nothing too exciting, just slower days and simple routines.

Miscellany:

1. Spring has certainly sprung around here. We’ve had lots of rain… even tornado watches (not my favorite, but they come with living in the Midwest). Nevertheless, I’m enjoying all of the green and vibrant colors.

2. Well, another tax season has come and gone. We got ours turned in at the beginning of the month. Woo-hoo!

I always intend to do monthly bookkeeping for the blog, but for some reason, it doesn’t seem to happen. Haha. So, then I’m scrambling in February. Can you relate?

How about you? Did you get yours done, or did you file for an extension?

3. Earlier this week, I shared these Happy May Day Printable Tags. Maybe this year you’re looking to spread a little extra joy or kindness on the 1st of May — these tags make it super easy. Attach one to a bouquet of flowers!

4. What I’m reading: The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins.

Since the last Weekender, I also read First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston. Loved it!

5. I love J. Jill, particularly their linen clothing. I don’t shop there often, but I recently went in and got a really cute indigo cotton dress that was on clearance, so I can’t link to it. I wore it last Sunday to church, and after church, we headed to our local Hyvee grocery store to pick up a few things.

As we were walking in, a lady behind me said, “I love your dress. You look beautiful.” That made me smile… kind people are my kind of people.

6. What I’ve watched and/or am currently watching:

  • F1 The Movie (Apple TV) – Another car racing movie. If you remember, we watched Ford vs. Ferrari several weeks ago and loved it. So, we thought we’d give this one a go too. I really enjoyed this movie. Brad Pitt fan? Give it a go!
  • The Testaments (Hulu) – a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, started releasing a few episodes on April 8th, with weekly episodes thereafter. It’s as good as The Handmaid’s Tale.
  • Jury Duty presents: Company Retreat (Amazon Prime) – I’ve been watching a couple of episodes here and there, but wrapped it up last night. When you know what’s happening, you can’t help but laugh. The temp employee was such a nice guy. Some of the humor can be distasteful, but it’s funny nonetheless. Definitely a mockumentary.
  • Mercy (Amazon Movie) – This movie was very good. I like Chris Pratt. The premise is that you have to prove your innocence to an AI judge within a set time limit, or you’re executed.

7. With the warmer weather comes the humidity. Soooo, I love keeping this hair wax on hand to tame flyaways and frizz. It’s the cat’s meow!
