A little fall throwback from 2016 while I wait ever-so-impatiently for the weather to get the memo. Has anyone started decorating for fall yet? I have chosen to hold off a bit longer. Haha.
Miscellany:
1. What in the Name of Goodness Is Up With This Heat?
Seriously, what is happening? We had another heat advisory for much of this week, and I am officially over it. Next week brings the first day of fall, yet here in the Ozarks it still feels very much like summer. Boooooo.
I’m ready for crisp mornings, open windows, sweaters, and all the cozy things. Apparently Mother Nature did not get the memo.
2. Egg Bites with Cottage Cheese
In case you missed it, I shared a new recipe this week for Egg Bites with Cottage Cheese, and they are such a great option for an easy breakfast.
They’re simple, delicious, packed with protein, and freezer-friendly too—which makes them especially handy for busy mornings. If you like having something you can grab, warm up, and enjoy without much fuss, you’ll definitely want to check these out.
3. Purging, Organizing + All the Things
For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been working off and on in my work room, and let me tell you—it has been a project.
I’ve cleaned, purged, sorted, and organized more than I care to admit. I now have boxes set aside for a garage sale, bags ready to donate, and I’ve thrown away two 32-gallon bags of things I simply did not need anymore.
And you know what? It feels SO good.
There’s something incredibly satisfying about clearing out the clutter and putting things back in order. I still have a little more to do, but the room already feels lighter and so much more enjoyable to work in.
Well, apparently I’m on trend. After spending the last couple of weeks purging and reorganizing my work room, I stumbled across an article saying hobby and craft spaces are having a moment as people look for ways to spend more time offline. I’m all for that! Give me some pretty paper, a glue gun, and a quiet afternoon any day.
4. New Towels — and We’re in Love
Can we talk about towels for a minute?
We bought some new bath towels this week from Kohl’s, and I am ridiculously excited about them. They’re a bamboo-and-cotton blend from a women-owned company called Caro Home, and while they were a little more expensive than your basic bath towel, they are wonderful.
They are buttery soft, absorbent, and just feel luxurious.
We also replaced our bath rugs, which was probably long overdue. I’m pretty sure the ones we had were more than 10 years old. GULP. They had definitely served us well, but it was time. I promise we replace our towels more frequently. Haha.
So this little bathroom refresh feels especially nice, and I’m happy to report that Steve and I both love the new towels.
Now I’m curious: how often do you replace your bath towels and bath rugs? Please tell me I’m not the only one who keeps things way longer than I probably should. 😂

5. A Good Eye Appointment
I had my annual eye appointment this week, and I’m happy to report that there was very little—almost no—change in my prescription.
Woo-hoo!
That always feels like such a blessing. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean I won’t be getting a new pair of glasses. Ha! A girl still likes a fresh pair of frames every now and then.
6. The Sweetest Little Ghost Garland
Last weekend, Christine and I spent some time crafting together just for fun, and we made the sweetest little ghost garland.
We were both absolutely tickled with how it turned out.
I’m sharing a couple of pictures from her apartment because it looks so darn cute hanging up. Sometimes the simplest little craft projects end up being the most fun, and this one definitely made us smile.
6. A Festive Fall Sweater
I also found the cutest fall sweater at Kohl’s, and it was just too festive to leave behind.
It’s burgundy with camel and deep orange accents, along with sweet little pumpkins throughout. Basically, it screams fall without feeling too over-the-top, and I love it.
Now if the temperatures would just cooperate so I could actually wear it. Ha!
Women’s Croft & Barrow® Harvest Motif Sweater. I got the adorable Easy Pumpkin becuase I love burgundy and it will look perfect with jeans when the cooler weather decides to make an appearance. The Pink Fall Fairisle was cute too.
7. Currently Reading.
I’m so excited to report that I started The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett, and I’m about halfway through. I’m really enjoying the storyline so far and find myself wanting to keep pick it back up, which is always a good sign. I’ll report back once I finish it!

One Last Hoorah:
Have you noticed that all things analog seem to be having a moment again? Typewriters, vinyl records, film cameras, paper planners, physical books, sewing, cassette tapes—the list goes on.
Maybe it’s nostalgia, or maybe we’re all just a little tired of screens, passwords, notifications, and needing an app for everything. Ha!
I have to admit, I love it. There’s something comforting about things that are a little slower and more hands-on. Turning the pages of a real book, making something with your hands, putting a record on, working a puzzle, or writing something down with an actual pen and paper.
And looking at some of these things makes me smile. A telephone with a cord! An alarm clock whose only job was to wake you up! A kitchen timer that didn’t also receive text messages! 😂
Maybe analog isn’t old-fashioned after all. Maybe it’s just a reminder that not everything needs to be connected.
