Hello from my little corner of the world to yours! It’s another smokin’ hot day here in the Ozarks. I’ll be hunkering down inside doing laundry. How about you?
Let’s chat about what’s been up and what’s caught my eye this past week.
Miscellany:
1. It was a quieter week on the homestead. Nothing too exciting to report. I had some bloodwork, worked on puzzles, rearranged some furniture, and had coffee with a friend. BTW, the puzzle board I bought is awesome. Big, but AMAZING.
2. Did I tell you that we bought a storm door with a doggy door? I can’t remember. 🤦🏼♀️ Nevertheless, it’s arrived at the store, and we’ll be picking it up this weekend.
Hopefully, Steve will install it this coming week. We will have to expand the steps a bit, but that shouldn’t be a problem.
As a result of losing my job as a part-time doorman, I’ll be able to move back into my office. Did you hear that? The angels are singing. Lol. I’m hoping to make a few revisions to my workroom this fall. I want to get an adjustable/standing desk in there.
3. There’s something healing about a change of scenery. It’s like opening a window to let in new air—refreshing your mind, rekindling creativity, and easing the weight of the everyday. Don’t you agree?
We’ll be heading to Colorado Springs in the near future, and I’m so excited to see more of God’s country — and a change of scenery.
4. I’m so proud of myself. I’ve been consistent in going to the gym 3 to 4 times a week since April. I primarily walk on the treadmill and use the recumbent bike. I’m still not all in on lifting, but getting movement in is what’s vital for me right now. I’ve officially lost 24 pounds (since January). Slow, steady, and consistent!

5. I may have a cardigan addiction. Haha. I have sooooo many. So, of course, when I saw this camel colored oversized cable knit cardigan on Old Navy’s website, I had to have it. I sized down and it’s perfection! Chefs kiss.
6. What I’m currently watching or I’ve watched.
- The Hunting Wives (Netflix) – Warning: there is a lot of strong language, nudity, and female homosexuality. I kept the remote in hand to fast-forward a few scenes.
- Southern Fried Lies (Peacock) – CrAzYtOwN Documentary. Seriously, still not sure what to believe.
- Bad Sisters (Apple+) – I finished up Season 1 and watched Season 2. Sooo good!
- Platonic (Apple+)- So excited that Season 2 is here. I’m looking forward to watching that weekly episode again.
7. Have you ever had a Breve? A week or two ago, I had coffee with my parents at a local coffee spot here in Rogersville. My mom and dad ordered one and kept raving about how good it was.
The drink is simply a combination of espresso and half-and-half. However, you can add syrups, flavors, etc., if that suits your fancy.
Since Fridays are a cheat day for me, I decided to try one this week. Ooh lala. Let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint, and it might be a regular in the coffee rotation.

One Last Hoorah:
In a world that moves a little too fast, it’s the gentle things that remind us to slow down. A stack of books waiting to be read, a sweater that feels like a warm hug, the soft glow of a candle, a blanket to wrap up in, and a cup of coffee (or tea) cradled in your hands — these are the quiet comforts that whisper, “You’re home. Rest awhile.”
I love that these things don’t demand much. They don’t try to impress. But somehow, they’re the moments and objects that wrap our days in peace.
