I’ve had a blast being challenged by the folks of ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape to create some fun household uses.  There are so many unique uses for using painter’s tape.  I’ve been seeing so many around the web lately, my last one was a DIY Drop Cloth Table Runner. I decided to do this project using a step stool.  I love having little stools around the house for decorative purposes, and they come in handy when I need to reach something in a pinch too {smile}.

Stencil a step stool using ScotchBlue painter's tape with livelaughrowe.comI found this sweet little foot stool at Hobby Lobby and thought it would be fun to add a tribal (aztec) design to the top for use in my work room… I’m starting to mix patterns more in my decor and I think it fits in perfectly with my design and color scheme!

Let’s grab a few supplies and get this party started!

Supplies for stenciling with painter's tapeSupplies:
ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape
Paint (color of choice)
Paint Brushes
Stool (or other piece of furniture)Sand Paper or Block (no pictured)

Create your stencil using ScotchBlue Painter's tapeThe stripes are self explanatory.  The thinner stripe was created by cutting a long strip into two thinner pieces.  To create the arrows, I simply cut 2″ pieces and laid them on top of each either.

Creating stencil design using 3M painters tapeOnce you’re design is completely in place — it’s time to paint over your painter’s tape stencil.

All that’s required are your creative juices!

What a clever idea! The mixture of patterns and colors is designer perfect. I wondered if that Scotch Blue was as good as they said. You certainly did a great job using it. Thanks for sharing…I may try my hand at this!

Wow! How cute!! I can’t believe you were able to cut the tape so straight. Hint to the ScotchBlue folks: How about making the tape in different widths?! Thanks for the inspiration. ~Zuni
