For many of us the new year meant starting on a weight loss journey. I happen to be on that journey! I keep telling myself, “this is my year!” Sometimes we want to lose the extra weight over night… at least I do. I have a hard time swallowing one or two pounds a week. Seems like it will take me for-ever to hit my goal weight; however, the slower you lose, the better it is in the long term in regards to keeping it off. I have to remind myself of that every now and again {hee-hee}.
Anywho, I started Weight Watchers two weeks ago and I’ve lost a little over 6 pounds. To say it’s easy to completely transform your eating habits would be a lie, but guess what? I feel good! That makes me incredibly happy. With some healthy changes in my diet, I’ll be sharing some healthier/skinnier recipes with you on occasion. I can’t promise they’ll all be healthy, but I will be sharing some of my faves on occasion. I hope you don’t mind! Today I thought you might enjoy a Skinny Tuna Sandwich recipe.
Something I never thought I would try, let alone eat is fat free mayonnaise. Friends, as I opened the jar I whispered a prayer, “please don’t let this taste so bad.” To my glorious surprise, it wasn’t bad at all! I would gladly keep this in my pantry/refrigerator. Here’s a skinny spin on a tuna sandwich… give it a try and let me know what you think!
Skinny Tuna Sandwich
Ingredients
- 2.6 oz pouch chunk light tuna in water
- 2 Tbsp fat free mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp uncooked red onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp sweet red pepper chopped
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 1 Whole Wheat Sandwich Thin
Instructions
- Combine tuna, mayonnaise, onion and red pepper in a small bowl; season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Serve on sandwich thin (toasted, optional).

I lost 30+lbs on WW and am coming up on the 2yr anniversary of reaching my goal – it can be done! 6lbs is awesome — great job!! When I started, I went all ga-ga w/ the FF stuff, but quickly learned that most of it is not that great. I’m not big on mayo as it is, but I use Kraft Reduced Fat Mayo with Olive Oil when I need mayo. The olive oil is one of WW’s “healthy oils,” so that’s a bonus. Good luck on your journey!

I LOVE tuna sammies and this looks delicious! I like mixing a little mayo with mustard on mine and will have to try this with the {yummy} red onion and red bell peppers!! Way to go, Kelly! “Slow & steady wins the race”. Pinning this now. xo

Your photo brings out the yummy in a tuna sandwich. I’ve been making these for in-between basketball games this season as a pick me up. I haven’t switched to fat free mayo, as I recently introduced mayo to my kids so it’s not a staple for us. I have to admit I share your reservations with switching, may take me a little longer. 🙂 Have a wonderful week!

hey kelly…
we are on a similar journey! i just joined weight watchers where i live about a week and a 1/2 ago! my meeting is on tuesday nights and i just went back for my 2nd meeting this past tuesday and i had lost 3 pounds! it sounds like we must have joined right around the same time! it is VERY HARD to change my eating habits…i have NEVER truly tried to change anything about my eating and i am 43 now! the first week i felt REALLY DEPRIVED and sorry for myself 🙁 but losing the 3 pounds when i weighed again was a real boost…i have to keep it up! 🙂 i’m only 4’10” and i need to lose about 65-70 lbs… yikes! but i am doing it slowly like they recommend…. i’m like you, i want it to come off NOW and i want to see a difference NOW and i want people to notice that i’m smaller NOW 🙂 see my pattern here? 🙂 if you are interested at all in keeping in touch with each other…i’d be glad to “share” the journey with you along the way…i’m very non-judgemental and supportive! i found your blog thru a pin on pinterest on the skinny tuna sandwich in this post…going to make it for lunch or dinner tomorrow! just a little about myself: married (although separated) and we have one daughter who is 9 1/2 and is so much fun…i wish you much luck and support on your weight loss journey! and if you want to…you can email me and we can begin a “support” and maybe a “check-in” buddy type thing….if not, no problem…i was just thinking it might make me more accountable if i have to “share” with someone daily or every other day about how my day has been….here’s my email: stephfunny@hotmail.com
thanks kelly and keep it up!! you CAN do it! we both can…’cept i’m hungry now! 🙂 🙂
