Delicious with a homemade sauce, these Salsa Sloppy Joes will not disappoint!
Who loves a good sloppy joe? ME! I don’t even care about the sloppy part. Sloppy Joes are tasty! If I’m being completely honest with you, Manwich is usually our go-to for sloppy joes. Shhh….
However, I thought I’d try something a little different. Rather than going with the store bought sauce, I decided to make a homemade one. And, since this recipe is super easy, it makes a great dinner option for those nights when you’re in a crunch for time!
Homemade Salsa Sloppy Joes
While growing up, we enjoyed sloppy joes on many occasions. Of course, when I was younger, I didn’t realize how easy they were to make, I just knew they were pretty darn yummy.
With just a few ingredients that you probably have stashed in your pantry, you can make these tasty sandwiches in about 15 minutes. And I love that you can use any salsa to make the sauce to your liking. So, if you like spicy food — you could use a hot salsa, etc. I fall into the mild arena, spicy foods do not settle well with me.
Another great reason to love this meal option is that during the Summer months you don’t have to turn the oven on. Pair it with chips and dinner is served.
Salsa Sloppy Joes Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 pound of ground turkey
- 1 cup salsa
- 1 can 10-3/4 oz condensed tomato soup, undiluted
- 1-1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
- Hamburger buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook your ground turkey over medium-high heat until no longer pink; drain.
- Stir in the salsa, soup and brown sugar.
- Cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until heated through.
- Serve immediately on buns.
These can be made using slider buns or hamburger buns. Let me know what you think! I love having options and this is one I’ll be using more often.

This sounds yummo! But hubby doesn’t like tomato soup in recipes. Could I maybe substitute it with tomato sauce?
