Last Friday (11.11.11), I participated in a fundraising event for Ascension Early Childhood Center “The Little School” in the West County area.  I went to respresent Tastefully Simple and my etsy store House 129.   I really had no idea what to expect, but ended up having a great time.   Here were five brief highlights:

1) Paying It Forward.  I am blessed and God has been so good to my husband and I.  We never want to take that for granted.  So, when I’m able to help out a good cause, I certainly do what I can.  Each vendor  was asked to donate 20% of their proceeds to the school and an item for the raffles. I appreciated the opportunity to give back.  I don’t have children, so I was excited to help where I can.

2) Exposure of my Businesses.  There was no fee involved to participate in this event, so I also saw it as an opportunity to market my businesses and potentially gain some clients.  My set up was nothing fancy since I don’t do these events often (if at all), but it was fun.  I had two little trees off to the one side displaying my ornaments.

3) Free Food and Wine.  This was more applicable to the attendees, but there was a $2.00 entry free that included a raffle ticket, free food and all you can drink wine.  Now ladies, that’s a super-duper-inexpensive night out {smile}.  I believe the wine helped the vendors out by the end of the night…  the stories I could tell.  I had a steady flow of traffic, so I enjoyed my Diet Coke.

4)  A Shopping Frenzy.  There were probably 25-30 vendors there representing Scentsy, Lia Sophia, Stella and Dot, Mary Kay, Tupperware, Thirty One, and many more.  It was awe to the some.  However, I was a VERY good girl and only bought a few extra raffle tickets.  I took a couple of catalogs, but refrained from going on a shopping spree.  Kudos to me, right?  That can be a challenge for some women {giggle}.

5)  New friends.  I was able to meet some new people and other vendors.  Being that I’m not originally from the St. Louis area, these opportunities are priceless.  A group of us are already planning to attend a trivia night at Ascension Early Childhood Center together in January.  Yay!!

Here are just a couple more pics…  Thanks for stopping by!  TGIF!
keep living and laughing, friends.
