I love dining alfresco style (eating in the open air). Last week I promised to share my simple table setting for a recent meal the hubs and I enjoyed on our deck. Of course we all eat a lot of picnics outdoors — alfresco style, but I think of alfresco as a slightly elevated dining experience.
So, our alfresco dining for two was more like a date night. A nicely set table with a delicious meal and time spent with your significant other? I’d say that’s perfection!
Dining Alfresco for Two
I started setting the table with a throw blanket I bought at TJ Maxx last year. It was bought to use for picnics, but I’m happy to repurpose a blanket as a table cloth. Who else has done that?
Like I mentioned earlier, I wanted to keep it simple. Let’s be honest, even when dining out — the table is set fairly simple. It has the basics: tablecloth, plates, napkins, silverware, etc.
Occasionally there may be some flowers. I find them to be such a nice touch. So, I added a simple stem in a little glass vase.
Add a plate of bread, water and/or wine (or beverage of choice) and it’s time to sit down and enjoy each others company!
The dish we enjoyed was an amazing Salmon Fettuccine.
The tablescape was perfectly simple and yet it looked and felt like a five star restaurant.
I hope you’re inspired to create a similar setting and enjoy a meal alfresco with family and friends!
