BlogHer ’12… Here I come!

It’s hard to even describe my excitement for this opportunity.  I teetered back and forth on going. I thought of all my options and just couldn’t justify all of the expenses.  Then one afternoon while I’m out running errands, I get an e-mail from Kimberly Montgomery.

Hi Kelly,

I hope this doesn’t sound too random.  I bought my ticket to the Blogher NYC Conference (back in Dec.).  Just found out I have to use some of my vacation time for something I didn’t plan on and I won’t be able to make the trip to NYC.

I checked with Blogher and they do not issue refunds, but they do allow tickets to be transferred between individuals.  They require that transfers be completed before 7/1.

I am not selling my ticket…the way I see it, that money is already spent…But I do hate to see the spot go to waste.  I thought I’d check with you first.  🙂

I also have a reservation at the Hilton (where the conference is).  Their block of rooms are sold out now.  (They have rooms in nearby hotels for the event). Anyway, I can cancel the reservation. I’m not sure I can transfer the reservation to someone else, but would be willing to try..

Let me know if you are interested. 🙂

–Kimberly

Isn’t that amazing?  My first thought was, NO WAY!  I even e-mailed her asking if she wanted to try selling it first. Nope.  PLUS, did you read the part about the hotel?   So, I sat down and crunched a few more numbers, talked with my hubby — and, well, I’m officially attending BlogHer 12 in NYC. She was able to transfer the reservation. That was solidified last week. WOW!  This conference is being hosted at the Hilton located on the Avenue of Americas in Midtown Manhattan — basically not far from the incredibly-crowded-at-all-times, claustrophobic Times Square {giggle}.  Yesterday I officially booked my flight as well… and let me mention here how wonderful it is to have such a supportive husband of my endeavors.  I’m one lucky gal!

Oh….but WAIT, the story only gets better.  Kate, a gal I met at Bloggy Boot Camp mentioned she was going to BlogHer a few months ago (she lives out in California). I thought I’d at least see if she had a roomy yet.  To my ecstatic surprise — SHE DIDN’T.  Her hubby was going to go with her to keep her company.  Sooo, now the hubby isn’t going and we’ll be roomies, keeping the cost even lower.  Did I mention what a blessing all of this is?!?  God is good!

Kimberly, I know I’ve said it several times — but THANK YOU!  Thank you for thinking of little ole’ ME, thank you for the complimentary ticket, and thank you for your friendship.  May you be blessed two-fold for your kindness!

I am soooooooo excited and yet sooooo incredibly nervous.  I’ve only been to one bloggy event and it was on the smaller side, so this will be a completely different ball game.  However, I’m not afraid of meeting new people, asking questions and learning.  Those three qualities should allow me to have a positive first time experience, right?  I’m also super excited that it’s in NYC.  Being that my parents live in New Jersey, I’m no stranger to the city that never sleeps.

#BlogHer 12 — Here I Come!
Have you been to a bigger blogging conference?
Any tips you might want to share with this newbie?

p.s.  Last week they announced Katie Couric is one of the Keynote Speakers.  Squeal!!!!

So I have to ask what is BlogHer? I have seen a lot of blogs with the blogher banner and was wondering what it was.
Have a good time and cannot wait to hear about it and all of the wonderful things you are going to learn.

I so love it when things work out smoothly. 🙂 It’s like Evelyn said in her comment: Some things are meant to be. I agree GOD is GOOD. It did fall together so nicely. 🙂 I’m especially tickled that the hotel is working out. How great is that!? Very excited that you are going and can’t wait to hear how great it is.
