When you think about barbecues and picnics, what is your favorite side dish? Maybe it’s pork and beans, potato salad. Well, one of my all-time favorite picnic sides is this simple Tuna Macaroni Salad.
Tuna Macaroni Salad
This macaroni salad is one dish that takes me on a looooong walk down memory lane. From eating this at church picnics to having a couple of bowls at my high school graduation party. My mom made this for so many church socials, picnics, barbecues and more. Leftovers were rare because it was always such a hit.
My parents were up for a week recently and I was so glad when my mom agreed to make a batch! I snatched a few pics and enjoyed every bite I could sneak in before dinner. I don’t make this salad a lot for just the hubs and I, but it’s a great dish when we have company or an engagement where we have to bring a dish.
So, I guess you could say I’ve been eating this simple macaroni salad for over 30 years. It’s my go-to dish for any and all picnics. And you just can’t replace a classic dish that is easy and tasty, right?

This is our go-to macaroni salad for cookouts and I’ve been making it for over 20 years. instead of plain salt I add celery salt and some frozen peas to the pasta water for the last 2 minutes of cooking. I also add some ground pink peppercorn for a wonderful mild and unique flavor. We love this cookout staple!
