Merging my love for the look of the scrap fabrics and plaids/flannels, I came up with this Winter Flannel Wreath. With the holidays behind us, now (most of us) get to battle the crisp winter weather! Today we’re expecting a high of 7 degrees here in St. Louis. Oh. my. goodness! Can you say cold?
So, I guess you could say that I’ve had staying warm on my mind. As many of you may or may not know, I love scrap fabric wreaths (and banners). I decided during these cold days and nights that I would work on a winter wreath and flannel seemed to fit the bill.

Do you get the warm and cozy vibe? You kind of wish you could cuddle up with this wreath… just kidding {giggle}. In case you’re newer around these parts, let’s take a quick look how I pulled this together.
Supplies Winter Flannel Wreath:
Plaid, Flannel Fabric (mine was from a JoAnn store)
Scissors (or Rotary Cutter with cutting mat)
Wire Wreath
It’s always good to cut a couple of ‘test’ pieces to know what length you’d like the scrap fabric pieces to be. I’ve now made three scrap fabric wreaths and I still always test out lengths.
I think 6-8″ is a good average length and about 1/2″ in width. Honestly, the size of your fabric pieces will all vary, giving your wreath the perfectly imperfect look it should have.
Anywho, once you have your strips of fabric cut — you’ll want to fill that wire wreath right up by tying your fabric to each of the wire forms until it’s full. Take a look at my Scrap Fabric Easter Wreath tutorial for a closer look at the tying process.

I did mine in several small spurts as I get distracted a little too easily {hee-hee}. I think it’s a real beauty. What do you think?

What is the yardage for the flannel material. I don’t want to come up short on fabric. Looks easy. Just tie bows to the wreath?

Hi Mary. Thanks so much for stopping by 🙂 1/2 yard should be plenty, but it does depend on the size of your wire wreath. Yes, you’re simply going to tie the pieces of scrap fabric to the wreath.
