I love twine! Sure, it’s a little messy and sometimes a little stinky, but I absolutely adore the flair it can add to some projects. I use it a lot for projects in my shop, so keeping it organized is helpful too! This DIY Twine Holder is simple perfection!
Have you ever searched the term twine holders or twine storage? WOWzer! There are a lot of options and creative ones at that.
As most of you know I have a love for all things vintage/rustic. So, these here (pictured below) make my heart go pitter patter. However, I wasn’t prepared to spend $30-50 dollars for a storage container either. I also had to consider that my craft room is light and bright, with the shabby chic feel. I thought to myself that I’ll just have to keep my eyes peeled for something that would be a good fit.
Well, one day I was in one of my favorite places in all the world {giggle} — Target! They had these air tight containers on clearance for all of maybe four or five dollars (I can’t remember the exact number… shame one me)! I said to my sister, I could just drill a hole in the top of this and use it to store my twine! Eeeeek! I’m pretty sure at that very moment she rolled her eyes. I tend to see the possibilities in just about anything. HA! When she wants to buy something, I say, “let’s make it!” I’m chuckling as I write this.
Anywho, that’s exactly what I did. I bought the container and had the hubs drill one single hole in that beautiful bamboo lid for me! This DIY Twine Holder was born in one super easy step!

Love it! Looks like it fits your craft room decor better than those harsh looking cast iron holders (although, they are purtty). AND it was only $5! Squeal!!! Love it! 🙂

This is really, really good. I need to find a container and make this. Right now my office/homeschool classroom is a bit of a disaster (we are in transition with some projects) and I have all of our supplies grouped in glass containers, but the twine just seems out of place. Thanks so much for sharing and I pinned your project.
Have a great day!
