A collection of ribbed pumpkins in muted peach, orange, cream, and green.

Happy hello’s from a crisp fall day here in the Ozarks. Our high today is 61ºF. Yes and amen!

1. A Little Work, a Little Play

This week felt like a good balance of work and rest, with some crafting fun tucked in along the way. I got things done, but I also made time to step away and recharge. Nothing particularly earth-shattering—just a week that felt good. I’ll take more of those, please!

2. To Chop or Not to Chop

I had a hair appointment this week, and goodness, doesn’t a little refresh feel good? My hair is getting sooooo long. Some days I’m ready to chop it, and then I think, “Are you crazy, Kelly?” Ha!

Anyone else go back and forth like this? At least a fresh trim buys me some time before the next round of negotiations with myself.

3. A Little Lamp Love

I’m officially obsessed with a rechargeable lamp I found on Amazon. Naturally, I had to add a little homemade touch, so I made a fabric lampshade for it—and would you look at how adorable it turned out?

Side-by-side comparison of a wood-look rechargeable lamp with its original white shade and a handmade pleated floral fabric shade.

The tiny floral print and those pleats! It’s such a sweet little addition, and making something myself makes me love it even more.

It’s not attached either, it’s simply resting on the lamp, so I can remove it and customize more. I was inspired by this no-sew lampshade; however, I did sew the top and bottom hem, then used a hot glue gun for the pleats.

p.s. If you don’t like the wood look — spray paint it! I’m thinking of spray painting one gold.

4. A Forecast With Less Hay

We finally had a drop in temperatures! Nothing dramatic, but the 70s feel pretty wonderful after the 90-100ºF days. We also got some much-needed rain after a long dry spell. Our backyard was starting to look like a hayfield, and every time the dogs rolled around out there, they brought a little of it inside. A generous contribution to the housekeeping, as you can imagine.

5. The Jury’s Still Reading

I started Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy, and I’m still too early in the book to know how I feel about it. I have noticed I’m reading a little more slowly, which sometimes means a book isn’t going to be a favorite. But I’m giving this one some time.

Have you read it? I’d love to hear what you thought—without spoilers, of course!

6. Tiny Plants, Big Cuteness

If you missed this week’s new post, my DIY mini succulent magnets are on the blog! These little wood-block planters were such a fun project, and the faux succulents require absolutely nothing from me. That’s my kind of tiny garden. I used natural blocks and stained a couple, too, but you could also paint yours to match your style.

7. An Uncool End to the Week

Welp, our nine-year-old refrigerator decided to start saying its final farewells this past Friday morning. Definitely not the kind of weekend surprise we had in mind—or the kind of retail therapy I was hoping to do. Ha! 🤭

8. Now that’s a big heart!

Random fact for today — a blue whale’s heart weighs about 400 pounds—roughly the size of a small piano. Talk about putting your whole heart into something! Wowzer.

Around the Web:

You Have to See This Incredible Pumpkin House! 🎃

These little decorative Cinnamon Pumpkins. They smell so good!

This Pumpkin Fairy House is simply darling!

This Colorful House Explodes with Goodwill Finds.

These Apple Streusel Meal Prep Muffins.

Old Fashioned Beef and Noodles.

These Spicy Black Bean Chicken Enchiladas with Pumpkin Sour Cream Sauce.

These Bite-Size Easy Apple Pies.

Have a Costco Membership? This was an interesting read.

This moisturizer has revolutionized my dry face! Pssst… It’s Korean.

One Last Hoorah:

There’s something about autumn that makes me want to pause and take it all in. The changing leaves, the cooler air, the beauty along a familiar road—it’s a gentle reminder that there’s more to our days than getting things done. I hope you find a little time this weekend to step outside, take a deep breath, and enjoy what this season has to offer.

A winding road beneath golden autumn trees with the quote, “There is magic in the way autumn paints the world in cozy hues, inviting us to rest and reconnect with nature.”
