Rural country road lined with bare winter trees under a bright blue sky with scattered clouds.

It’s a beautiful Saturday here in the Ozarks. Ready for some random thoughts? Let’s go!

Miscellany:

1. It was a quieter week overall. No complaints from me… I had a hair appointment, went to the gym, walked the dogs, ran some errands, got groceries, etc. Quiet=Good.

2. The peaceful country road pictured above, lined with winter trees and open fields, was exactly what my soul needed this week. There’s something about a long drive beneath wide skies that clears the mind and softens the edges of a busy season. Sometimes therapy looks like fresh air and open roads.

Further down the road, there was a formation of clouds in which the blue sky within them was heart-shaped. A big love note from God. 🫶🏻

3. Did I tell you that I’m going to Texas in a little over a week? Just me, myself, and I are going to visit a friend for a week. My husband will be holding down the fort with our fur babies. A trip like this hasn’t happened in a very long time, so I am stoked.

I only want to take a carry-on, so making the most of the space is important. I’m a world-class overpacker. Haha. So, I’m on the hunt for compression bags — any good recommendations?

In preparation for staying healthy, I purchased some Emergen-C Immune+ Crystals. In the past, I’ve only bought the powder to take with water. How exciting is it that they have a no-water option? Winning.

4. A couple of weeks ago, I mentioned the yogurt and Biscoff treat that I was going to try. Well, I not only tried it — but decided to share the how-to on the blog. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the Viral Japanese Cheesecake Recipe (2-Ingredient No-Bake Version).

5. Soooooo, I almost caught our house on fire last weekend. GULP. I was boiling some potatoes on our gas stove. I checked on them every now and again to stir and see if they were done. On one occasion, I must have placed the hand towel a little too close to the burner.

I stepped into the other room, and suddenly all of our fire alarms started going off. I was like, “What the heck?” Then I noticed a small fire next to the pot of boiling potatoes.

I was able to quickly throw the hand towel into the sink and run water on it. PTL!

Thankfully, that has never happened to me, but it was a little unnerving.

6. Did you see this? New York Hospital Delivers its largest baby! A beautiful reminder that babies come in all shapes and sizes.

7. We got a new set of cookware (again). My husband has a newfound love for researching pans. He’s bought a couple of very nice stainless steel pans, but I really don’t like cooking with them. I like non-stick pans, but I know what we’ve bought isn’t always a great option.

A couple of years ago, Our Place sent me one of their pans, and (honestly) I loved it. They’re non-toxic nonstick ceramic pans. Steve decided to buy the 13-piece cookware set in the color SPICE. Yay!!

I was so excited. The pans are beautiful, and I’m obsessed with the color.

One Last Hoorah:

Cultivating Whimsy

Apparently, “cultivating whimsy” is trending on Pinterest right now, and honestly? I’m here for it. If there was ever a time to lean into a little more joy, this feels like it. Think dreamy details, playful touches, and tiny creative projects that don’t require perfection — just participation.

Whimsy is mismatched bedding that somehow works, stickers on everything, doodles in the margins, and saying yes to jumping in a puddle simply because it’s raining. It’s letting your home — and your life — reflect a bit more wonder.

If you’ve been craving a softer, lighter season, maybe this is your sign to embrace it.

Soft pastel illustration of a brown-haired girl in a yellow dress standing in a whimsical meadow with clouds overhead and the quote, “You’re not weird, you’re just full of whimsy.”

This graphic feels like a gentle hug for anyone who has ever felt a little “different.” The soft colors, dreamy clouds, and the girl wiping her eye create a mood that’s both vulnerable and hopeful. It captures that fragile moment when you wonder if you don’t quite fit — and then lovingly reframes it.

“You’re not weird, you’re just full of whimsy” turns what might feel like an insecurity into something magical. It suggests that imagination, sensitivity, and seeing the world a little differently aren’t flaws — they’re gifts.

It’s a quiet reminder that sometimes what sets us apart is actually what makes us wonderfully, beautifully unique.
