A couple of weeks ago, I had my girlfriend Felicia and her two kiddos over for a BBQ. Of course, it was a good time — hamburgers/hot dogs, s’mores, sparklers and more! Anywho, Destiny (Felicia’s daughter) brought a few of her library books in and I was tickled silly to see one of them by Shel Silverstein. He was a wonderful children’s writer (unfortunately, he passed away in 1999) — I love his books. A couple already in my library include The Giving Tree and Where the Sidewalk Ends. One that Destiny had with her and I had not heard of was called Runny Babbit. In the world of Runny Babbit and his friends, they speak a topsy-turvy language all their own. For example, one of his friends name is Toe Jurtle (Joe Turtle) and another Skertie Gunk (Gertie Skunk). I chuckled at the cute humor and headed out to the local Border’s bookstore the following week to pick up a copy. I’d like to make you smile and share one of the little poems with you:
Loooove it! Isn’t that the cutest? For all you mommy’s out there — you must purchase atleast one of Silverstein’s books for your children’s book collection. You won’t be disappointed. Let’s continue our journey… living and laughing!!
