Would you agree that not all birthdays have to be fancy?  I’ve learned over time that sometimes the smaller (and simpler) celebrations are the more memorable ones.  Today there are so many ways to make cakes beautiful with fondant, screen printing, etc.  Well, for me — if it’s a moist cake and a yummy frosting, I’m happy!  Guess what that means?  Homemade and imperfect is a-okay.  That’s where my buddy, Betty Crocker comes in!  I recently made some Rainbow Chip Cupcakes for a little celebration and decided to have DIY Sprinkle Packets, so you could ‘put a sprinkle on it’ — and not just your cupcake, but the special day too!

Rainbow Chip Cupcakes. DIY Sprinkle PacketsHow fun is that idea?  DIY Sprinkle Packets.  First and foremost, you’ll need to whip up your cupcakes.  I chose to make mine with the Betty Crocker Party Rainbow Chip cake mix. I then frosted them with Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Cream Cheese and Chocolate frostings.  You have to admit — we all like options, right? {hee-hee}.

Now that we have our cupcakes, let’s whip up some DIY Sprinkle Packets.  Supplies that you’ll need:  Food Safe Mini Glassine Bags, Sprinkles, Sewing Machine or Washi Tape.

Rainbow Chip Cupcakes. DIY Sprinkle PacketsI added about a tablespoon of sprinkles to each glassine bag and sewed mine closed with colorful threads; however, you could easily fold the bags over and use some washi tape to seal them closed as well.  Super fun, right?

I placed mine in a berry box with a clothespin attaching a “Sprinkles” sign to it.  Ta-da!

Yes, please!  And you know what I love about this?
It’s easy, non-stressful — aaaaand FUN.

Oh, wait!  We must take a look inside the rainbow chip cupcakes!
