Eggnog Scones

Today, I’m sharing these flaky eggnog scones made with vanilla, eggnog, and chocolate chips.  A true explosion of flavor.

We always go from lots of pumpkin recipes in the fall to peppermint and eggnog recipes for the holidays.  ‘Tis the season!  This year I’ve been doing a little more experimenting with peppermint and I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how much I’ve enjoyed the minty treats such as my Peppermint Cookie Bark.

However, eggnog makes my heart sing!  I’m slightly addicted to Eggnog Lattes.  I just love them and wish I could drink one every single day!  I also love the memories that come with eggnog.  Our family always toasts to eggnog on Thanksgiving each year — and (when we’re together), for breakfast on Christmas morning.  Sprinkle a little nutmeg on it, mmmm.  Delicious memories {smile}!

Eggnog Scones with livelaughrowe.comI was recently contacted by Safest Choice™ Eggs to participate in an Eggnog Party!  What a fabulous idea, to throw a par-tay with an eggnog theme!  I was happy to participate.  Let’s make these delicious scones, shall we?

Making Eggnog Scones

Ingredients:

Flour
Sugar
Cinnamon
Baking Powder
Baking Soda
Salt
Butter
Eggnog
Egg
Vanilla Extract
Miniature Chocolate Chips
Powdered Sugar, for the frosting
Water, for the frosting

Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, sift flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.  Add in the chocolate chips.

Cut in the butter until it’s in small pieces. Create a well in the dry ingredients and add the eggnog, egg, and vanilla extract in the middle. Gently stir until combined.

Place dough onto a prepared pan. Shape the dough into an 8-inch circle. Use a sharp knife to score into 8 sections. Bake at 400 for 20 minutes. Remove for the oven and cut scones through the scored sections. Let cool.

Frosting:

Stir together the powdered sugar and water. Spoon into a plastic bag with a corner cut off. Drizzle over the scones.

I would eat scones everyday if I could. And drink egg nog. I know a lot of people think it is gross. I like it more with liquor in it 😉 Now egg nog scones, thats a win-win!
