Happy Friday! It’s hard to believe that summer is coming to an end as Back to School preparations have already begun. It’s crazy! Where does the time go? There is one thing I absolutely LOVE about back to school time — SCHOOL SUPPLIES. I can justify buying more tablets, pens, markers and erasers every single day! #officesupplyjunkie
Anyeho, over the summer, we take vacations, send the kiddos off to camp and some of us might even plan our own form of camp right at home. Today I’m sharing the perfect Summer Camp Craft: Feather Topped Pencils. I originally shared this tutorial over at Crafts Unleashed, but thought it was the perfect time to bring them over to LLR.
How many of you went to camp? Gosh, I remember some of those days like they were yesterday. It was church camp for me, but I quickly learned many of the kids weren’t at all ‘churchy’. LOL! I remember fashion shows via flashlights, puppet shows, archery, and CRAFTS! I think there should be a crafty camp for those of us who are still young at heart, don’t you? {giggle}.
Well, one thing is for sure — cute pencils are so much more fun when it comes to writing and drawing! Alrighty, let’s grab our supplies.
Supplies needed to make your own feather topped pencil crafts:
These feathery pencils are so easy to make — only three steps and less than 15 minutes!! Let’s get started, shall we?
Step One: Select your feathers. I started with a couple of large and a couple of smaller feathers. You can always add or take away as you go.
Step Two: Attach the feathers to pencil using floral tape.
As you’re wrapping the floral tape, add additional feathers as desired. I loved the bright colors and just had to add more as I went along. The black peacock feathers added a little extra bling too.
Once you’ve completed attaching your feathers to the pencil, we’re ready to move on to the last step.
Step Three: Wrap ribbon around the floral tape and attach with glue (optional). Tie a bow for the finishing touch. Tada! Your feather topped pencils are done.
What do you think? Pretty stinking cute, huh?
Colorful, fun — and functional! Score.

I would make these, put them in a mason jar and keep just to look at. They’re so pretty and happy looking.
Maybe my 14yr old grand daughter would like to come make some. They could be cute simple gifts for her to give friends at holiday time.
I never went to camp, was terrified of being away from home, even with family. Think I missed a great experience. Happy summer days Kelly yes it sure is going by too quickly. Kids in Grand Junction start on Aug. 4th. ridiculous.
