Today I’m finally getting to share the details behind the awesome sauce La-Z-Boy Design Dash that I got to be a part of last month. I thought it would be fun to share how the event played out and how my Boho Chic Living Room came together. Ready or not, here we go…
Let’s start by saying that I almost fell out of my chair when the e-mail hit my inbox. An e-mail inviting me to be ONE of FIVE bloggers to participate in this years Design Dash. At first I felt a wee-bit overwhelmed, but I was so incredibly flattered. How do you say no to an opportunity like this? Sooo, I said yes and here is how it all played out!
Step One: Picking Out a Couch.
Each of us were sent to a local La-Z-Boy store to meet with a designer and design a couch. We could do any couch in any fabric or color, just no leather. Decisions, desicions…
I chose the Beacon Hill Sofa.
I love the look of slipcover sofas — warm and cozy and this sofa seemed to fit the bill. Wanting to keep the feel of the space lighter (and knowing the sofa is usually the focal point), I chose this neutral color. I thought the houndstooth added a pop of print and fun.
Step Two: Paint Color.
I wanted to design the space as if I were designing my very own living room. We recently painted our living room a light gray and really brightened up the space. So, I chose On the Rocks from Sherwin Williams.
Step Three: 60 Minute Dash.
Each of the bloggers had one hour in the La-Z-Boy two story showroom at the High Point Market. We had fifty tags to tape to the items we wanted for our spaces. Not going to lie, this stressed me out — because you technically have to visual everything. There’s not enough time to physically pull things together. I decided on using navy and corals for accent colors and dashed my little heart out. I’m not going to lie, I was one serious mama in that showroom. Laser focused to say the least… hee-hee. Oh well, it was a blast and I was surprised at how well EVERYTHING pulled together!
Step Four: Staging the Room.
We had several hours to stage our rooms after arriving at the photography studio the next day. We were each introduced to our bays, where our empty rooms awaited. The architecture (windows, doors, etc). were already chosen for us and the rooms were painted. The sofas sat in the in the middle of the room and our fifty hand selected pieces sat outside each of our bays — with our very own personalized directors chairs. How fun is that? La-Z-Boy didn’t miss a beat in the coordination and planning of this event. Let’s take a look at the room!
This what I started with:
And this is what I ended with:
I had a lovely designer who worked with me, her name was Katherine. When I wanted some input or had questions, she really considered my asthetic when answering my questions and making suggestions — I absolutely appreciated that about her.
There was a lot of picture taking, video recording, hair and makeup happening throughout the day as well. It was an experience of a lifetime, friends! I am honored and blessed that they invited me to be a part of something so incredible. I was stretched in more way than one being that I don’t consider myself to be a designer at all, but it was a blast.
When you can design a room (with no budget whatsoever) and see it come to fruition using only La-Z-Boy furniture, there’s really only one way to respond: Shut the front door! {giggle} No, it truly was amazing and I loved all of my pieces so much that I wanted to purchase the room in it’s entirety. I settled for a wish list {wink}. La-Z-Boy has so many lovely pieces that suit so many different styles — you really can’t go wrong!
Alrighty, now, here’s some exciting news for YOU! Today, the Design Dash voting begins… and for entering, you’ll have a chance to win $10,000 in La-Z-Boy furniture. Ahem, that’s a whole lot of furniture!

Very cozy and fun! Do you know what they used for flooring in the room? If it’s painted, do you know the color? Thanks!

Hi Andrea. Thanks for stopping by. Unfortunately, I don’t know what the flooring or paint was – these were both set up prior to my arrival. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Cheers!
