Lit amber glass candle with dried wildflowers in warm morning sunlight, creating a cozy and peaceful home atmosphere.

Happy Hello’s from a very Hot and Humid Rogersville, MO.

Ya know what? I’m so glad you’re here.

Miscellany:

1. How was your July 4th? Ours was lovely. Per usual, we celebrated Independence Day along with Steve’s birthday. We had the usual barbeque foods (hamburgs and hot dogs) along with jello salad, macaroni salad, homemade coleslaw and chips. Don’t forget the cake! Yes and amen.

2. Who else is anxiously waiting to see photos from Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding? ME! 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ They reportedly had a small, private ceremony beforehand, followed by a much bigger celebration at Madison Square Garden on July 3. Now I’m patiently waiting for the official photos to be released. Is anyone else just as excited to see them?

3. A few little things that made the week better:

  • Seeing butterflies in the yard. White butterflies always make me think of my sweet Parker who passed away.
  • Fresh sheets. What is it about clean, fresh smelling sheets?
  • This Instagram Reel had me dying! 😂😂
  • The sound of rain.
  • Finding the perfect parking spot.

4. Since the last Weekender, I’ve shared a few new posts. If you happened to miss them, be sure you don’t miss out.

  • Stawberry Shortcake Sheet Cake – Delicious summer dessert with fluffy vanilla cake, juicy strawberries, and homemade whipped cream. Easy to slice, serve, and share! Let’s goooo… 🍓
  • Watermelon Feta Salad Recipe – a summer side dish with juicy watermelon, crisp cucumber, red onion, salty feta and more. It’s a quick no-cook salad for barbecues, picnics, and warm-weather meals.
  • American Flag Art – Perfect for patriotic summer decor, Memorial Day, and Fourth of July decorating.

5. A couple of weeks ago, we got a new washer and dryer. I’d had a front-loading washer for probably 11 or 12 years, and I was more than ready to return to a good ol’ top loader. It’s funny how purchases like this make me downright giddy as I’ve gotten older. Ha!

Our laundry room is nothing fancy, well, because it’s a laundry room. However, it is organized and clean. Yes and amen!

Bright, organized laundry room featuring a new white top-load washer, matching dryer, gray cabinets, woven baskets, and a neutral plaid rug.

We also got an upright freezer this week. Some of these decisions are result of the troubles my back has been giving me. AKA, getting old problems. Haha.

6. It’s been a hot minute since I shared what I’m watching or what I’ve watched.

  • I Will Find You (Netflix): This is an Amercian Crime Drama Miniseries that was so good and the ending was a shocker!
  • The Agency S2 (Paramount+): If espionage is your thing, this CIA thriller series will not disappoint.
  • Project Hail Mary (Prime Video): I did not know what to expect, but had heard such great things about this movie. I LOVED it — for a sci-fi, it’s truly heart-warming.
  • The Bear (Hulu): Bummed that is was the final season, but they had a good run with five. If you haven’t watched any of it, you should. It’s a comed-drama about a chef (and more).
  • The Five-Star Weekend (Peacock): I read this book earlier this year and really enjoyed it, so I was excited to watch the miniseries when it premiered on Thursday, July 9. It was a slower day around the house, so I ended up binge-watching the whole thing. I loved Jennifer Garner as Hollis Shaw, and while I thought the series was good, I still preferred the book. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve read the book and watched the miniseries too!

7. A reader, Janet W., recently recommended author Charles Martin, so I picked up The Last Exchange—and what a great read! I’m confident this won’t be the last book of his I read. Yay! Thanks so much for the recommendation, Janet.

One Last Hoorah:

I stumbled across a similar graphic on Instagram and immediately thought, I love this idea. It was such a sweet reminder that joy isn’t always found in the big milestones—it’s often tucked into quiet mornings, easy friendships, simple routines, and peaceful moments. I hope it encourages you to pause, take a deep breath, and think about what you’re loving in this season of life.
