Fallen autumn leaves floating on dark rainwater with visible ripples from raindrops.

Happy hello’s from a cool, cloudy day here in the Ozarks. This week brought several days of fall rain — the gentle kind that gathers the leaves into little puddle collages and slows everything down just a touch. It felt like the season was asking us to pause for a moment.

Alrighty, let’s catch up, shall we?

Miscellany:

1. My dad turned 75 last weekend. WOWzer. That one hit a little harder. Where have the years gone? We celebrated as a family and enjoyed some cheesecake. I’m telling you what, the older I get, the more I just want to pause time. Watching your parents age isn’t something I ever really thought about, ya know?

Every day is a gift. We must never take things for granted — and be sure to love your friends and family.

2. Last month, I got my annual mammogram. It was the first time I didn’t get a good report, and it required additional testing. I had another mammogram and an ultrasound (which hurt to high heaven). Two hours later, I was given the good news that the lump was benign.

Stress doesn’t even come close to what I was feeling that day. Of course, I knew the Lord had everything under control, but my human nature had a way of sneaking in there and making me uneasy.

God knew. And praise the Lord for a good report.

3. We recently attended a trivia event at Springfield Brewing Co. You had to buy tickets, and it included a meal along with a couple of beverages. Our team had five people on i,t, and it was fun, but the trivia was ridiculously HARD.

Wow. I don’t know where they got those questions from. Steve and I watch Jeopardy just about every night, and this just seemed next level.

We came. We lost. We agreed never again.

However, I got all nostalgic. When Steve and I went on our first day 20 years ago — we ended the day with a nightcap at Springfield Brew Co. A very sweet memory.

4. I shared my first ornament post this past week — Fence Ornaments. I think they turned out adorable. Take a looksy and let me know your thoughts. I think there’s a world of possibilities.

5. I enjoyed reading this article, “Hot Take: Your Guest Room Should Be for You, Not Your Guests.” There are some great tips to consider, and I loved this quote:

When you fill a space with things you love,
your guests will love it too.”
—Amélie Pichard

6. Seint’s new holiday releases are out! My faves are the Ever Red Diamond Lipstick, the Nostalgia Collection, and the gorgeous Plum Palettes.

7. I recently noticed that my jaw hurt when waking up, meaning one thing: I’m clenching my teeth in my sleep again. Thankfully, I had a dentist apppointment recently, so I inquired about getting another night guard. Good times.

I had a good chuckle because Steve and I have had a number of good laughs when I try talking to him in bed with it in. Let the night guard shenanigans begin.

8. If you’ve ever wanted to build an email list for your business, blog, shop, etc. — I wanted to mention Flodesk to you. I’ve been using Flodesk for 5 years and couldn’t be happier with how easy it is to use.

The only reason I’m mentioning this is because Flodesk is officially saying goodbye to its unlimited plan; however, anyone who subscribes by 12/1 will get unlimited emails and subscribers for life, so long as you don’t change your plan.

I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Trust me, unlimited emails and subscribers for life is a BIG deal.

9. What I am watching/watched this past week:

  • I finished Season 3 of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (Hulu). What a roller coaster ride! Haha. There’s never a dull moment, but I’m here for it. I’ve been watching Dancing with the Stars and was disappointed that Whitney went home this past week. I honestly don’t think it was a coincidence, though.
  • The Beast in Me (Netflix). I enjoyed this; it was definitely a psychological thriller. I love Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys. They both nailed their characters.

There is so much to watch right now, and it’s piling up. Haha. Lots of new Christmas shows and shows releasing new seasons. So much to watch, so little time. 😂😂

10. Have you heard of a Sound Bath? OMG, I went to one last weekend. It was an amazing experience. Sound baths promote deep relaxation, and the good Lord knows I need all the chill I can get these days. Ha.

Six people attended, and it lasted two hours. The yoga studio that hosted the event schedules one per month, and I’ll be there. Yes and amen.

If you’ve ever been curious, TRY IT.

One Last Hoorah:

There’s something about the way patchwork comes together — all the colors, patterns, and tiny details reminding us of the people and moments that have quietly shaped my life. We’re each a gentle collection of memories… the laughter we’ve shared, the love we’ve been given, the places that hold our stories, and the choices that carried us forward.

Seeing something similar to this on Pinterest felt like a sweet reminder that even the unexpected pieces — the tender ones, the hard ones, the joyful ones — all belong. And together, they create a life that’s beautifully, uniquely ours.
