Create a stunning tablescape for fall with rich navy and burgundy tones, perfect for elevating your Thanksgiving or autumn dinner party.
As the leaves begin to turn shades of gold and the air gets crisp, something magical about fall sparks excitement in me every year. It’s hands down my favorite season! From cozy sweaters to pumpkin-flavored everything, fall has a charm that can’t be beaten. But it’s extra special this year because I’m hosting Thanksgiving at my house!
And what better way to celebrate this season of gathering than by creating a warm and welcoming tablescape? Since I’ve been dreaming up ideas, I couldn’t resist using two of my favorite rich, jewel-like colors—navy and burgundy.
If you’re like me and adore these bold, classic shades, this table setting will inspire you to add a twist to the traditional autumn hues and create a stunning centerpiece for your gathering.
Fall Tablescape Décor: Why Navy and Burgundy?
I’ve found that these colors bring such a rich and sophisticated vibe to any autumn setting. Navy is deep and calming, like the quiet of a clear fall evening, and burgundy adds a touch of warmth and drama, mimicking the rich tones of changing leaves or a glass of merlot by the fire. Together, these colors balance each other out perfectly.
Plus, they allow me to experiment with décor beyond the typical oranges and browns of fall. It’s like mixing the unexpected with the familiar, creating a dining display that’s as cozy as a sweater and stylish as a beautifully set table!
Setting the Mood: Linens
I always start with my linens to set the stage. This autumn-inspired table has a burgundy and ivory runner as its base, a perfect backdrop for everything else.
Layering is key to creating a thoughtful and rich tablescape. On top of the runner, I added wicker chargers to mark each guest’s place at the table, setting a welcoming tone.
I went with a burgundy and cream plaid for the napkins, tied in a knot.
Boho Table Centerpiece
A centerpiece can genuinely elevate your table design from nice to wow. I’m all about combining natural elements with simple, elegant touches for my Thanksgiving table.
To complement the navy and burgundy theme, I used a boho centerpiece for the center of the table, filling an old vase with dried stems, hops, pampas, etc. This arrangement is perfect for this time of year.
To add height and a little glow to the table, I placed tall blue taper candles in wooden candlestick holders on either side of the centerpiece.
Candlelight creates a warm, intimate atmosphere, especially as the sun sets early in the fall.
Cozy Fall Table Place Settings
No dinner display is complete without the right place settings. This year, I’m going for a mix of down-to-earth comfort—after all, Thanksgiving is about gathering with loved ones.
I found some gorgeous navy plates that perfectly complement the burgundy. You could also go with simple white plates.
For the glassware, I chose disposable glasses for a classic touch.
Burgundy napkins paired with navy dishes and gold utensils create a visual harmony that ties the whole look together. I plan to add place cards for a personalized touch. It’s a small detail but adds a thoughtful, welcoming feel to the table.
