Hey, weirdo! And I mean that in the very best way. Have you ever seen something while scrolling Instagram that stopped you in your tracks and made you think, Well, that feels very me? That’s exactly what happened when I spotted the words Stay Weird in an Instagram Reel. I took a screen shot of it — it was on the outside of a small camper (under a covered porch area).
The phrase was simple, playful, and a little unexpected—and naturally, I loved it. And the cross stitch design was probably what made it even more spectacular.

You see, I’ve always considered myself a bit of a weirdo. Not in a bad way—although the word weird sometimes gets treated as if it’s an insult. I simply have my own interests, ideas, habits, and sense of humor. I enjoy things that might seem quirky to someone else, and I’m perfectly okay with that.
The phrase stayed with me, and before long, I found myself creating not one but two Stay Weird printables. Both designs are available as free 8×10 downloads, so you can choose your favorite—or print both!
I hope these colorful little pieces of art serve as a lighthearted reminder that being different isn’t something we need to hide. Sometimes our weirdness is the most interesting, creative, and lovable thing about us.
What Does Stay Weird Mean?
When we hear the word weird, we might picture something strange, unusual, or outside what people consider normal. However, normal is a pretty flexible idea, isn’t it?
What seems perfectly ordinary to one person may feel completely unusual to someone else. We all come from different families, places, backgrounds, and experiences. We enjoy different hobbies, laugh at different jokes, and express ourselves in different ways.
To me, Stay Weird means staying true to the parts of yourself that make you unique.
For me, that looks like me talking to my dogs like coworkers, turning the smallest inside joke into something that lasts for years, whispering “good job” to myself after completing a tiny task, saving pretty boxes, ribbons, or jars because they might be useful someday, among many other things.
Maybe you have an unusual collection displayed proudly in your home. Perhaps you talk to your pets as though they understand every word—which, for the record, I’m convinced they do. You might enjoy dressing in bright colors, making silly faces in pictures, dancing around the kitchen, or decorating your home with art that makes other people look twice.

That isn’t something to apologize for.
Staying weird means allowing yourself to be genuine rather than shrinking into a version of yourself that feels easier for everyone else to understand. Read that again!
Being Weird Isn’t a Bad Thing
Many of us first heard the word weird on the playground or in a school hallway. It may have been used to point out someone who dressed differently, or didn’t quite fit in with the crowd.
Because of that, weird can carry some uncomfortable memories.
But what if we reclaimed the word?
Being weird can mean being imaginative, curious, funny, artistic, independent, or wonderfully unpredictable. It can mean you’re willing to question what everyone else accepts without thinking. It can also mean you’re brave enough to enjoy what you enjoy—even when it isn’t popular.
Think about the people who make life interesting. They’re rarely the ones who spend all their time trying to blend into the background. They have stories to tell, ideas to share, and the personalities you remember.
Whether it’s a child making a goofy face, a woman expressing herself through bold art and fashion, or a grown man striking an unexpected pose, weirdness isn’t limited by age or gender. It belongs to everyone.

And honestly, the world could use more people who feel comfortable being themselves.
Why We Should Embrace What Makes Us Different
It’s easy to say, “Be yourself,” but actually doing it can feel much harder.
We spend a lot of time receiving messages about how we should look, what we should like, how we should decorate our homes, and where we should be in life. Social media can make it seem as though everyone else follows the same trends, lives in a perfectly styled home, and has everything figured out.
Of course, that isn’t real life.
Real homes have personality. Real people are complicated. We have odd habits, inside jokes, embarrassing moments, unusual talents, and interests that don’t always make sense to everyone else.
Those are often the things that make us memorable.
Embracing your weirdness doesn’t mean you need to announce it everywhere you go. It simply means giving yourself permission to stop editing every part of your personality for someone else’s approval.
Wear the fun glasses. Display the strange little thrift-store treasure or trinkets. Sing loudly in the car. Try the hobby nobody expects you to enjoy. Laugh at your own jokes. The good Lord knows I do. Ha.
You don’t have to become more ordinary to be worthy of belonging.
A Reminder for Kids and Adults
Although these Stay Weird printables would be adorable in a child’s bedroom, playroom, or creative space, the message certainly isn’t just for children.

Kids often express themselves freely before they begin worrying about what other people think. They make up stories, wear mismatched outfits, ask unexpected questions, and turn ordinary objects into entire imaginary worlds.
As adults, we can lose some of that freedom.
We become more aware of judgment. We may tuck away the playful, unusual, or creative parts of ourselves because they don’t seem practical or sophisticated enough.
Perhaps a Stay Weird print hanging in your office, craft room, or reading nook can remind you that growing older doesn’t require becoming boring. You are still allowed to play, create, laugh, experiment, and change your mind.
You’re also allowed to like things simply because they make you happy.
Two Free Stay Weird Printables
I created two different designs for you to choose from.
The first printable features Stay Weird in colorful cross-stitch-inspired lettering with decorative stitched accents in the corners. It feels playful, cheerful, and a little unexpected. I love how it looks in a rustic wooden frame alongside small plants and succulents.

The second design has a simpler layout with olive-green cross-stitch lettering and coordinating stitched borders. Small touches of pink soften the design while keeping it wonderfully quirky.

Both Stay Weird printables are sized as 8×10. That makes them easy to print at home and place in a standard 8×10 frame.
Of course, there is no need to choose only one. You could use one in your home and give the other to a friend who proudly embraces their wonderfully weird side.
Ways to Display Your Stay Weird Printable
One of the easiest ways to use your printable is to place it in a simple wooden frame. A warm wood finish gives the colorful design a cozy, handmade feel, while a white or black frame would create a cleaner, more modern look.
You could display your Stay Weird art:
- On a bookshelf beside favorite books and collected treasures
- Above a desk in a home office or homework area
- In a colorful gallery wall
- On a nightstand or bedroom dresser
- In a craft room or creative studio
- In a playroom or teen’s bedroom
- Near your houseplants for a fun pop of personality
This would also make a thoughtful—and free—little gift. Print it, place it in an inexpensive frame, and give it to a friend, coworker, teacher, or family member who makes life more interesting by being exactly who they are.
How to Print Your Free Stay Weird Art
Each printable includes an 8×10 design that can be printed on standard letter-size paper or cardstock.
For the best results, I recommend using white cardstock or a heavier presentation paper. Once printed, trim around the design as needed and place it in an 8×10 frame.

Before printing, check your printer settings and select the best-quality option available. Depending on your printer, you may also need to choose “actual size” or adjust the scale so the artwork prints correctly.
Colors can vary slightly from one printer or screen to another, but that’s part of the charm of printing artwork at home.
Stay Weird and Stay True to Yourself
There will always be pressure to fit neatly into a box.
Be quieter.
Be more serious.
Choose something safer.
Don’t stand out too much.
But the parts of you that feel a little unusual may also be the parts that bring the most joy, creativity, and color into your life.
So collect the quirky things. Tell the corny jokes. Try something new even if you aren’t immediately good at it. Decorate with art that makes you smile. Be enthusiastic about the things you love.
And when someone thinks you’re a little weird, consider taking it as a compliment.
After all, ordinary is fine—but weird is much more fun.
Download one or both of these free printables, find a favorite frame, and display your weirdness proudly.
A quick reminder — all printables and downloads from Live Laugh Rowe are for personal use only. Please don’t edit, sell, or share them as your own, whether in digital or printed form.
