A SMASH-ing Idea

Happy Monday, friends!  I just returned from Salt Lake City, UT yesterday afternoon after attending the Snap conference.  What a fabulous conference it was — seeing old friends, making new ones and walking away with nuggets of information to take my blog (business) to the next level.  Thanks so much for being a part of my blog too, friends!  Without loyal readers, I couldn’t do what I love — sharing my creativity and heart with you.

Today I have a SMASH-ing idea to share with all of you,  but I wanted to give a little history to it first.  Sound good?

A Smashing Idea! Create a mini scrapbook while on vacation -- no need to waitThis Thursday, I’m flying home to New Jersey!  Eeeek.  The reason for this trip is my very first cruise.  I’m sailing the ocean blue to Bermuda with my mom and sister.  Of course I’ve tagged on a couple of days before and after the cruise to spend with the whole family too.  Family is so incredibly precious to me!  I am super duper excited; however, there is a not-so-happy part to this scenario. Ready?  I’ll be away from my husband (and furry friends) for eleven days!  ELEVEN DAY!  Sigh.  My sister and I are turning 40 in May, so we agreed on a girls only cruise to celebrate this monumental occasion.  Hard to believe I’m 10 years from 50 (GULP).  Anywho, I love my husband dearly and will miss him terribly.  I couldn’t be more thankful for his love and support.  He’ll be watching three dogs for the duration of my trip — he’s such a trooper; however, he did decline the option of kenneling them (right, babe?).  Ha-Ha!

Anywho,  while preparing for Christmas 2013,  I had a SMASH-ing idea!  I decided to gift a mini SMASH book to my mom and sister for the May 2014 cruise!  I thought it would be a blast if we scrapped our adventures along the way.  How many times have you taken a gazillion pictures with the intention of scrapbooking the trip and never got around to doing it?  Yep, me too!  So this time, I decided to get a mini book for each of us and I also bought the FUJI Instax Mini.  That way we can gett’er done! {giggle}  I thought the yellow camera was such a happy color too, don’t you agree?

A smashing idea! Scrapbooking fun with Fuji Instax Mini My sister and I have been buying some scrapbooking embellishment to bring along too!  With a glue stick, washi tape and a glue dots — this is incredibly doable and will be so much fun to look back on.  You can get an idea of the size of polaroids above.

With just a few SMASHing supplies, you are ready to scrapbook as you go on vactionPretty smashing, right?  {insert cheesy grin}.  I’ll be sure to share the SMASH-ing fun with you after the cruise some time too!  I’m in desperate need of some R&R, so this trip couldn’t be more timely.  Keep an eye out for some sneak peeks of my travels on Facebook and Instagram too.  Wish you could join me!

Care to stay in the loop? I’d love to have you!

You girls will have so much fun (when you’re not missing your hubs), all 3 of you. What a great idea for all of you to take cruise, where are you going? Did I miss that part? That camera is so cute, hadn’t seen one like that but then don’t really look at cameras. I’m awful at things like cameras. Love the color. Have much much fun, will look forward to hearing all about it when you return. good luck to your hubs taking care of 3 dogs. Happy week and trip

The cruise sounds SO fun, Kelly! My husband and I had hoped to go on our 1st for our 5th anniversary, but since my kids are tiny and the baby’s not weaned yet, we’re putting it off for another year or so. I love the idea of the smash book. You three will have so much fun putting it together!

I have a smash journal but I love, love, love the Fuji camera and have added one (in pink for me) to my Amazon wish list! Perfect for a road trip with the grandkids this summer! I did my first Smash book at the end of last summer when my husband and I went down to Cleveland. We went to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Zoo with a pit stop to the Botanical Gardens. I had just purchased my dslr and had taken a ton of photos. I wish I had this instant camera then! What I did was put our tickets and such in the book and then made a Shutterfly book out of the photos from all our little summer and fall trips. Now I am sure to pack my little Smash kit when we go on trips so I can smash something in there :). Now, I must go check out this camera!
