Let’s take a walk down memory lane….
As we get older, do you ever notice how we become more nostalgic and sentimental about things? We look back on childhood experiences and reflect on those sweet memories in a totally different way? Or maybe it’s just me… I don’t know. I smile when I think about some of the crazy silly things my family did as I was growing up. Like strolling the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ one summer and suddenly being hammered with torrential rains. I think I was 10 or 11. It just seemed to come out of nowhere. We had no visibility and my dad was so worried about losing track of any of us. We would make a fast dash from one store to another and my dad would stop and count 1-2-3-4-5. It was scary then, but today I can’t help but chuckle. We were sopping wet, dripping from head to toe by the time we got back to Seaside Hotel. The crisis of today is the joke of tomorrow, right?
Of course, as holidays approach you think about those special days and/or people a little more than usual. With Father’s Day quickly approaching, I’ve been reading Father’s Day cards — and many times my allergies suddenly kick in {ahem}. I love my daddy! I can whole heartedly agree that I have taken him for granted many times over the years. He chose a life of ministry and made many sacrifices along the way for his family. We never lived extravagantly; however, we lived a good life! We laughed, we cried, and most importantly, we LOVED. We loved each other, God and life with all of our hearts. I’m so grateful for that.
Food seems to be another memory trigger!
Smells. Tastes. Pictures. One of those foods is rice pudding….
We were a family that had some serious pudding love! I treat myself to some Kozy Shack Rice Pudding every now and again, but I can also assure you that every time my parents come for a visit you’ll find a tub of Kozy Shack Rice Pudding for my dad.. A simple snack that takes me on a walk down memory lane and teases the senses. It’s an all time favorite especially for my dad and I — if he isn’t enjoying a bowl at home, he’s ordering a bowl at the local New Jersey Diner!
Here he is enjoying it on the deck back home. Makes me miss him even more as I write this post. He’s a good man! Anywho, I’ll stop being all sappy… my dad and I enjoy it on the simple side. A dollop of whip cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. A simple snack with BIG memories! #nomnomnom
I guess it serves as a good reminder that not everything has to be fancy —
a simple pudding snack can create BIG memories! Sweet memories!
What are some of your special memories? Does it include pudding? Yep, pudding tastes delicious straight out of the fridge, but you can turn your everyday pudding into a special treat by adding cool whip, fruit, spices and other toppings you already have on hand. Swing by join the Pudding Made Right conversation on the Kozy Shack Facebook page or connect with them over on Twitter too! Aaand… eat. more. pudding! {wink}
Care to stay in the loop? I’d love to have you!

I thought your “sappy and sentimental” post was lovely, and very loving. Money doesn’t bring happiness. Our youngest son’s in laws are proof positive of that. Never seen people more miserable and hateful than those people. They have always looked down on hubs and I cause we don’t have money, can’t go on fancy trips, wear a 5 carat diamond ring. No Thanks. I’ll struggle as we do any time rather than be miserable and judgemental as they are. My son has been married to his wife for about 25 yrs .now, when we do see his mil she still acts like we’re not good enough to talk to. We’re not welcome at our son’s house cause we drive an older car, they live in a very high end house/neighborhood. Isn’t that a shame? If we’re so awful then how did our son become the good provider/husband/Father he is?
Sounds like you had a very nice loving God present upbringing. Your Dad looks like he’s a pretty handsome fella. You have always seemed to me to be a loving caring person. That is what matters in life.
It’s good you remember things from your childhood. When you get older looking back on those memories helps to keep them alive to pass them on of your family history. That’s what matters. You take trips with your Mom and sister, if you weren’t a loving family that wouldn’t happen. Happy days to you Kelly, enjoy your Dad as long as you can. My Dad died when I was only 24.

Sorry to hear about your son’s in-laws. That’s unfortunate. I’m blessed to have such a loving family. I grew up being grateful for all I had not taking things for granted. I have so many WONDERFUL childhood memories and plan to make many more as an adult. 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend!!! HUGS!

Such a fun memory. My Dad lives in Alaska and I haven’t seen him for a year. He’ll be here in a few weeks. I know he’d love sharing rice pudding on the patio too.

Aw…I hope you’ll sit and have some rice pudding with him. 🙂 Dad’s are pretty great! Have a wonderful weekend. xo.

I miss my dad too {even though we don’t live that far apart we don’t get to see each other all that often}. I definitely have foods that remind me of him and love your story and how this comfort food brings memories back for you. Sounds yummy!
