I’ve decided to go ahead and do a few posts that can be labeled under the Fall is Fabulous theme. I mean it is fabulous! I have always wanted to make a pinecone wreath for our home. I really didn’t know where to start, but decided to tackle the project this week. I have to admit that I am a bit obsessed with pinecones. I {heart} them, they come in all shapes and sizes and make me smile! Seriously, whenever I see pinecone — I want them. If I’m walking the dogs, I pull out an unused potty bag and fill it up. Can a girl have too many pinecones? {giggle} I don’t think so, plus they are super versatile when it comes to decorating for everyday or seasonal. So, let’s take a looksy as to the supplies I used:
Supplies for DIY Pinecone Wreath:
13″ Round Wicker Wreath
Bag of Spanish Moss
Lots of Pinecones (any shape/size)
Glue Gun
Floral Wire
Now let me share how much this DIY cost me. Are you ready? Approximately $4.00. I found the wicker wreath and the spanish moss at the Dollar General store and bought the Floral Wire at Walmart for $2.00. Pinecones were FREE!! Booya!
Alright, let’s get this show on the road. I started by hot gluing a small amount of the spanish moss to the wicker wreath. I did this to be sure that the light color of the wreath was not going to peek through.
Most of the tutorials I read said to use a wire wreath and attach the pinecones with the floral wire. I honestly didn’t like this method, so I started by hot gluing the pinecones to the spanish moss/wreath. It’s a bit time consuming, but nothing has to be perfect. I kept thinking this isn’t going to work, it isn’t going to look right. {sigh} However, I’m not a quitter… soooo, I pressed on.
