We all have traditions, right?  This is one that my family just started over the past few years {and I’m not sure why we waited so long, because I love it}.  My maiden name, Kuert, is German — so, it’s an appropriate {and fun} tradition for us.

In Germany, it’s an old tradition to hide a pickle in the Christmas tree.  On Christmas day, the child who finds the pickle gets an extra Christmas gift.  This year, having all the family together was a hoot.  We all agreed that someone would represent each family.  Somehow, all the siblings were searching for the pickle.  I am so super-duper competitive.  I was bummed to not find the pickle — but, my sis won and she deserved it.  The extra gift was $20 in gift cards…woo-hoo!

keep living and laughing, friends.

We also do the Christmas pickle ! My sister in law got it for us thinking our grandkids would like it . It’s quite the competition each year . I usually just do a token -unisex – ( 3girls, 1 boy ) giftcard . They have a blast , but I have to say there is usually a bit of sulking sometimes from one of the “non winners” . ut, they/we all love it !
