Meet Kristine of Kristine Lynn Photography. She’s a pretty neat gal… not only is she our photographer (and a very good one at that), but she’s my twin sister as well. I’m so glad she agreed to be a guest blogger — and she threw in a fabulous giveaway to welcome in the holidays too. Yay!!!
The Top Ten reasons I {heart} being a photographer:
In thinking about how I was going to approach this, I thought this could be as easy as:
1) kids
2) newborns
3) families
4) couples
5) weddings
6) pets
7) seniors
8) parties/events
9) still life photos
10) professional portraits/head shots
There you have it, plain and simple! {HUGE GRIN} Okay, okay….I’ll reel it back and give you some specifics that are a little more interesting than one or two words. Ready? Here we go:
– I {heart} what I do. I’m doing what I love and am passionate about, so it rarely feels like work and let me tell you – that is a WONDERFUL thing!
– I {heart} that the industry is always changing. There are always new things to try, to research, to buy and that makes it as exciting as you want it to be. I love growing and learning within this industry.
– I {heart} having the opportunity to meet people of all ages, races and cultures!! It’s fabulous the memories that have been made at sessions. I have the unique opportunity of getting to know them even better when I’m post processing their images. It makes me smile just to type that. There is so much emotion and personality that is seen when you really look at the images.
– I {heart} portrait and still life photos. Although portrait images are my main focus, taking still life photos is an offset to the portraits that I LOVE. A still life image tells a story as much as any portrait session….just in a different way with a different emotion.
– I {heart} having endless creative ability…a creative outlet. It’s like working with a blank canvas….its WONDERFUL not only with composition, but in my post processing. I try to keep things fresh and new and although that’s not always possible, my mind is always going and I am always thinking of ways to shake it up.
– I {heart} being able to express myself in ways I never imagined. I believe it’s so important that my work not only speaks of those in the image, but of myself as well. My work is a reflection of who I am as a woman and how my minds ticks.
– I {heart} smiles! If you don’t like watching or hearing people smile…then I kind of feel bad for you. A smile speaks loudly and I love them!! I love capturing expressions which is probably why I love lifestyle portrait photography more than anything. I love watching and capturing people being themselves.
– I {heart} exploring new locations. I am always looking for new locations. St. Louis is full of them and although I have my favorites, I’m sure there are hundreds to find and utilize. Although I love parks, I’m bias to Urban settings.
– I {heart} a challenge. If any of you know me…you know I’m one who loves a challenge. There is more than just pointing a camera and shooting. It’s a BIG challenge…I’m always learning, exploring and pursuing. I NEVER get bored.
– I {heart} that photography allows me to live in the present daily. Photography focuses on the present and then makes history. I find myself seeing details and beauty everyday and saying “that would be a great picture!”… and then I do my best to capture it. It really is a lifestyle. It’s hard to flip the switch and turn off photography, because I see it in everything.
