First and foremost — Vegas was AWESOME. I could make that a yearly weekend getaway.  Loved the whole weekend!  My feet would disagree, but fashion always trumps comfort.  HA!

As you may already know, I started my IVF meds on Friday, May 14th.  From that time till now, things seem to have been a whirlwind.  It is extremely difficult to give you all the details — as I’m not sure I completely understand all of the details.  I went in for my monitoring vaginal ultrasound on Tuesday morning, and had more blood drawn.  The lady who did my ultrasound said that it appeared as though I was responding well to the meds.  I was pretty excited, and I was even more surprised to receive a call from Dr. Silber’s office later that morning.  My blood work showed that my LH levels had tripled.  I was instructed to give myself a shot of Ganirelix as soon as possible.  I felt a bit panicked — but did as I was told.  The nurse told me there was no need for concern and I would be given additional instructions later that day after Dr. Silber reviewed all of my test results.

That afternoon I got another call and was told that all of meds were needing to change -AND- the egg retrieval would take place on Friday or Saturday.  Ummm, what happened to May 25th?  Can you say frazzled?  So, after all was said and done — what was tentatively planned was suddenly topsy turvey and I had a slight meltdown (change of meds, change of date, lots of pain, work scheduling conflicts, etc).  Sigh.  It felt good to just let it all out though.  Phew.  I had to give myself four shots last night and report for another vaginal ultrasound and bloodwork in the a.m..  Thankfully, I survived.  SMILE.

I reported for my tests again this morning and waited patiently for the call to confirm when my retrieval would be.  The call came this afternoon — FRIDAY 05.21.10 is thee big day.  We’ll report at 5:30 a.m.  Steve will do his semen specimen and I will report to same day surgery.  This is happening all so quickly which is both good and bad for a control freak like myself.

In closing, I would ask that you please pray with us for a success in numbers.  The nurse said today that they’re hoping for two good eggs.  I was devastated, but did say to her that we could still believe for miracles. Amen. Amen. Amen. On Monday 5/24 we will get the fertilization results and on Wednesday 5/26 we’ll get the freeze results.  We are praying and believing for three quality embryos (the embryos are assessed in quality, the higher the quality — the better the chance for pregnancy).

Coveting your prayers at 7:30 a.m. (CST) this Friday.  The procedue will take approximatley 45 minutes to an hour.  Hugs, Kisses and many thanks to each of you!!!

keep living and laughing, friends.
