TGIF! Today, we have Ashley back from Little Glass Jar sharing a super sweet DIY Autumn Banner that will make a great addition to your fall decor.  Happy creating!

Happy fall, ya’ll!!! I am non-stop cheesin’ all season with the cooler weather and the changing leaves, it is my favorite time of the year by far! If it were socially acceptable, I would never take my fall décor down! Truth. I love it that much! Last year I purged a lot of old stuff, so this year I did a lot of shopping to replenish it (Bummer, right? Hehe). I decided this year to use more of a neutral palette with white pumpkins rather then orange, dark natural fall foliage, and different fabrics and textures. I did quite a few DIY projects because I had a hard time finding fall décor I liked in the store, and I am sharing one of them with you today! This DIY Autumn Banner is as simple as it looks!

DIY Autumn Banner

Supplies Needed:

  • Drop Cloth
  • Wooden Dowel
  • Wood Stain
  • Scissors
  • Twine
  • Iron on adhesive or glue
  • Stencil
  • Black Paint
  • Paint Brush

DIY Autumn BannerI started by cutting a piece of scrap drop cloth to a 14in x 14in square. At the bottom, I measured halfway horizontally and cut a triangle starting at each corner, meeting at the middle mark to make my banner shape. I frayed the edges by pulling any loose strings to create a more natural look. Using an iron on adhesive (glue would also work), I folded the top of the drop cloth over horizontally about an inch and a half to create a loop for the wooden dowel to go through.

DIY Autumn Banner. Supplies NeededUsing a stencil, I painted “Hello Autumn” onto the drop cloth and let it dry. I stained the wooden dowel with dark wood stain before slipping it into the loop I made at the top. Then I cut a piece of twine and wrapped it around each end of the wooden dowel to hang. And there you have it! A cute little autumn banner that can be customized any way you want it!
