Well, hello there! I’m so glad you’re here… let’s do a little catching up, shall we?
Miscellany:
1. It was a much quieter week on the home front—a little productive, a little lazy, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I got a few things done, but there was also plenty of time to take it easy without feeling like I needed to fill every spare minute. Nothing terribly exciting to report, and honestly, I’m okay with that. Sometimes a week with a little less hustle is exactly what you need.
A couple of things that are happening a little more frequently? Walking the dogs and lighting all the fall candles. Yes and amen!
2. Apparently, after almost 18 years of marriage, we can still surprise each other. And by surprise, I mean scare the living daylights out of each other. Ha!
Tuesday night, I got up to use the bathroom (during the wee hours of the morning). As I was leaving, Steve was coming in, half asleep and completely unaware I was already in there. Thinking he was about to walk right into me, I put my hand out—and scared him half to death.
You guys, we laughed ourselves back to sleep. I’m still chuckling about it.
3. Our trip to Fort Morgan later this month is feeling a little uncertain with the hurricane threatening the Gulf Coast. We’re watching and waiting to see how things unfold. I’ve been looking forward to a little beach time, but mostly I’m hoping everyone in its path stays safe. Keeping those coastal communities in my prayers.
4. Some weeks feel a little out of control, and deciding what to eat can feel like one decision too many. This week I shared an Easy Meal Prep Lunch Ideas post that has a couple of delicious options to help make that part of your week easier: Taco Salad and Korean beef bowls.
A little prep ahead of time, fewer last-minute decisions, and something good waiting when you’re hungry? Yes, please!
5. I saw this in a meme on Instagram this week, and boy oh boy, did I feel seen:
“I’m actually a very calm person.
Until I’m hungry, overstimulated, someone is chewing loudly, my bra feels weird, and a person asks me a question they could’ve answered themselves.
Then, unfortunately, the village is in danger.”
Can you relate? Ha! Sometimes all I need is a snack and a little peace and quiet.
6. This protein bowl has been a favorite around here lately—and it’s so easy to make! The only cooking involved is browning the beef with taco seasoning and baking the potato. Then you just assemble your bowl and dig in. Nothing fancy, just an easy meal we’ve really been enjoying.

7. Christmas is probably one of my favorite times of the year — cooler temps and holiday decor just make my heart happy. And let me tell you, when i saw this wall tree at IKEA, you know I ordered it!
Plus, it’s an easy addition — with the ability to fold and store!
8. Recently watched…
- First up was Sterling Point (Prime Video), which I really enjoyed. It follows a teenage girl who inherits a remote island in Canada from a grandfather she never knew. Naturally, that inheritance comes with a complicated family history and plenty of buried secrets. I highly recommend.
- I also finished up Last Seen (Apple TV). It’s an Australian thriller about a police dispatcher whose daughter disappeared years earlier. When he receives a distress call from a teenage girl he believes could be her, he becomes determined to find her. You guys, the storyline was cRaZy. I didn’t love the ending, but overall, I thought it was a very good series.

One Last Hoorah:
Sometimes the days we have the least to report are the ones we needed most. A little getting things done, a little taking it easy, and laughing with someone you love. Nothing that makes headlines, but plenty that makes a life. I hope your weekend holds a few of those simple comforts, too.
