When I had the opportunity to try Homeaglow, I’ll be the first to admit that I was a little nervous. I’d never had my home professionally cleaned before because, well, I’m picky. In fact, I used to do some housekeeping work. So, I keep a pretty clean house, and I’ve always assumed I’d rather do the cleaning myself than worry about whether it was done the way I like it.

TL;DR: Homeaglow connects customers with local independent cleaners for a customizable cleaning experience. After trying Homeaglow for the first time, I was pleased with the results—and especially grateful for the hours it gave back to my day.

What Is Homeaglow?

Homeaglow is an online cleaning-service marketplace that helps customers find and book local professional cleaners. You can browse available cleaners, read ratings and reviews, choose an appointment time, and manage the booking online. Homeaglow also offers appointments seven days a week, making it easier to find a time that fits your schedule.

Instead of calling several independent cleaning companies, requesting estimates, and waiting to hear whether they serve your area, you can search for available cleaners and schedule an appointment online.

Customers can look through cleaner profiles and use previous client ratings and reviews to help request someone. Homeaglow says cleaners on its platform complete a certification process, while its review and rebooking features allow customers to choose the same cleaner again or request someone different for a future appointment.

That distinction is important: Homeaglow is a marketplace that connects you with independent cleaning professionals. Your experience may vary depending on the cleaner you request, your location, the condition of your home, the number of hours booked, and how clearly you communicate your priorities.

Is Homeaglow Legit?

Based on my personal experience, Homeaglow is a legitimate cleaning-service marketplace. I scheduled an appointment, my cleaner arrived as expected, and she completed the cleaning tasks we had discussed.

Because Homeaglow connects customers with independent cleaners, individual experiences may vary. I recommend reading cleaner profiles and reviews carefully, clearly communicating your priorities, and reviewing the membership terms before booking.

Preparing for My First Professional House Cleaning

Even though I generally keep a clean home, I did a little preparation before our cleaner arrived.

I didn’t scrub the floors or clean the bathroom beforehand—that would defeat the purpose—but I did pick up personal belongings and put away things that might get in her way.

We also chose not to have the master bedroom or either of our offices cleaned. Steve and I both needed to work while our cleaner was here, so keeping the offices available allowed us to go about our day without interrupting her.

Plus, my office is a hot mess approximately 90 percent of the time. No cleaner should have to figure out where my piles of papers, craft supplies, photography props, and miscellaneous blogging materials belong!

Our dogs also spent the day at doggy daycare. Bentley and Nash would have barked the entire time, followed the cleaner from room to room, and generally tried to supervise every move that was made. I also didn’t want the dogs feeling stressed by a new person moving throughout the house.

What I Asked Our Cleaner to Clean

Our cleaner, Fatima, was running late on our scheduled morning, but I appreciated that she kept me informed and let me know she was on her way. Upon her arrival, we discussed what I had in mind and what my priorities were.

Since the master bedroom and offices weren’t a priority, I asked her to focus on the main living areas:

  • Living room
  • Kitchen
  • Dining area
  • Entryway
  • Main Bathroom

I also added a few specific requests that were important to me:

  • Clean the inside of the refrigerator
  • Wipe down visibly dirty and easily accessible baseboards
  • Apply leather conditioner to our leather sofa

One thing I learned from this experience is that it helps to identify your priorities before your cleaner arrives. When you have a limited number of hours, deciding which rooms and projects matter most can help the cleaner use the time effectively.

Homeaglow’s support information also recommends allowing enough time for extra services and clearly prioritizing important tasks in your booking notes or discussing them when the cleaner arrives.

Fatima was scheduled for six hours and spent approximately five hours cleaning our home. Since she wasn’t cleaning the entire house, that gave her time to concentrate on the spaces we use most frequently and complete the additional items I requested.

And when it was over? The house looked great and smelled so wonderfully clean.

Overall impression? Homeaglow is worth considering for people who need help keeping up with household cleaning, are preparing for company, have a particularly busy season ahead, or simply want to reclaim a few hours of their time.

My Homeaglow Before-and-After Results

Once Fatima finished, the main living areas felt refreshed and noticeably cleaner. The house had that wonderful just-cleaned smell without me having spent the day scrubbing, wiping, and vacuuming.

The refrigerator was clean, the accessible baseboards had been wiped down, and the leather sofa looked refreshed after being conditioned. Fatima said the couch looked like a completely different one.

Was every single hidden corner of my home addressed? No—and I didn’t expect it to be. We had agreed on specific rooms and priorities within a set amount of time.

Normally, cleaning those spaces and completing the additional projects would have taken a significant part of my day. Instead, I stayed in my office, worked on the blog, and emerged to a clean home. It genuinely felt like winning the lottery.

How Does Homeaglow Pricing Work?

Homeaglow offers both regular-priced cleanings and discounted cleaning rates through its membership program. Cleaning prices are generally based on the hourly rate set by the cleaner, the number of hours selected, any extra services requested, and applicable platform or processing fees. Exact pricing may vary by cleaner and location.

Through this specific introductory offer, new customers can receive a free three-hour cleaning with a six-month Homeaglow membership:

  • First month of membership: $19*
  • Following months: $59 per month.
  • Membership term associated with the introductory offer: Six months.
  • Additional member cleanings: Approximately 60 percent off.
  • Early cancellation: If you cancel during the first six months, you will be charged the full price of the introductory cleaning.

Keep in mind that the introductory offer clearly states that the free three-hour cleaning is tied to the membership and that canceling before completing six paid months results in the first cleaning being charged at full price.

It’s important to read the offer terms before joining so you understand the membership commitment, monthly fee, cleaning charges, potential booking fees, and cancellation terms.

Homeaglow vs. a Traditional Cleaning Company

FeatureHomeaglowTraditional Cleaning Company
BookingOnline scheduling through a marketplaceUsually booked directly by phone or online
Cleaner SelectionCustomers may browse and request available cleanersCompany generally assigns an employee or team
AvailabilityMay include appointments seven days a weekDepends on the company’s business hours
PricingCleaner rates, hours, extras, fees, and optional membership discountsFlat rate, hourly rate, or customized estimate

CommitmentOne-time bookings are available; promotional or ongoing discounts require membershipUsually no membership or associated discounts, although recurring plans may be offered

A traditional cleaning company may appeal to someone who prefers dealing directly with one locally owned business. Homeaglow may be a better fit for someone who wants to compare cleaner profiles, schedule online, and potentially access lower member rates for repeat appointments.

A Few Things to Know Before Booking

Overall, I had a wonderful experience with Homeaglow, but there are a few things worth keeping in mind before scheduling your first cleaning.

Clean bathroom with a white vanity, granite countertop, floral shower curtain, toilet, and wood-look tile flooring.

It helps to be realistic about what can be accomplished during one appointment. Since Fatima was scheduled for six hours, I prioritized the rooms we use most often and a few specific extras, including the refrigerator, visible baseboards, and our leather sofa. Clearly communicating those priorities helped make sure the areas that mattered most to me received attention.

It’s also worth noting that Fatima provided all her own cleaning supplies, including mops, vacuums, and other essentials, which made the process even more convenient.

Again, before booking, take the time to read through the membership and cancellation terms.

That said, every cleaning experience will be a little different. Homeaglow connects customers with independent cleaners, so results may vary depending on the cleaner you choose, the amount of time booked, the size and condition of your home, and the tasks you would like completed.

Is Homeaglow Worth It?

After trying it myself, I think Homeaglow is worth considering—particularly for someone who wants ongoing cleaning help and will use the discounted appointments included with the membership.

It could also be helpful during especially busy seasons, before or after hosting guests, while recovering from an illness or procedure, after bringing home a new baby, or whenever household chores begin to feel overwhelming.

Would I hire a professional cleaner again? 100% yes. My first experience reminded me that accepting a little help around the house can feel pretty wonderful. I have no regrets.

That may be the most surprising part of this Homeaglow review. As someone who had never hired a house cleaner because she was convinced, she was too picky, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Most of all, I appreciated getting several hours of my day back.

Ready to see who is available in your area? You can try Homeaglow and receive a free three-hour cleaning with a membership.

Have you ever hired someone to professionally clean your home? I’d love to hear whether you found it difficult to hand over the cleaning—or whether you immediately wondered why you hadn’t done it sooner.
